Impossible Missions

I'm looking for tips on how to finish some "impossible" missions. They're not story ones, they're ones like where you have to go kill one guy. I can kill the guy fine, but afterwards, his 25 friends beat the crap out of me relentlessley. My countermeasures never seem to work against their cruise disruptors, I don't have enough power to fight them all off in one big group like that, and no matter how far away from the mission area I get on afterburners, they just keep following. It's really pissing me off. Any ideas?

In a word, Hit-N-Run. Best early on. Welcome to TLR.

Any tips? Um, give as good as you get, I guess. Make sure you're in a good ship, preferably one with a good manoeuvrability/power ratio. Other than that, practice makes perfect is the only cliche left in my bag. After a while you'll be killing the lot of them, wondering why you ever thought it was hard. Sounds far-fetched and arrogant, I know, but it's the truth. I was in your position a lot of kills ago... now my only concern is making sure I don't damage the weapons too much so I can sell them

Well, i've got a centurion right now. What "outlaw" fighters would you suggest. I'm a pirate, so I don't want to go thru the trouble of getting good reps with good guys.

I personally recommend the Sabre, mostly because it has decent armor for its maneurverability, loads of firepower and a forward facing turret. Sure, those Corsair ships are better armoured, but can they fly through the Fort Bush gauntlet and the Manhattan gauntlet without taking a hit?

I'd fly through any gauntlet unharmed

Best tactic I know for running away is engine kill (defaul Z) and turn around to face you enemy. Sounds silly I know, but as long as you don't shoot at them they stop chasing you. Works, unless they got big ass guns and you're in a smaltime fighter.

You were gone?

Edit: Damn spelling.

The Best advise I can give you and it works for me. Is to diengage my Engines so that when you boost for 4 second you already doing 200. release boost turnaround and face the enemy traveling backward and shoot at them. They tend to back of a bit so you can engage cruise engine. Dont use the go to button F2 use the shift + W and manual fly. It works. Best succes I have had is out running the Unioners faction

You'll really have to work on using engine-kill to be able to put distance between you and the mob. I don't know how you execute your assassination missions, but it may not be best to go right after the guy your looking for unless you can keep him from running once you get his shields down. The target almost always flees towards his buddies once you've given him a good whack or two. If you engage the target NPC first that means all his buds from both locations will be protecting him once he bugs out. That is of course if the guy was at the first location to begin with. Sometimes you don't see him until you've taken a few of his cronies first.

Still your best bet is to get him soon as you see him and flee using engine kill and thrusters, while dodging like the dickens. You may even have to charge the pack a couple times. What I mean is, if they are too close to your rear that you can't realisticly get away, engine kill / spin 180 and charge/ zig zag/ right through them. Keep engine kill engaged. By the time they turn around to chase you you've put some distance on em.
