the closest thing to freelancer 2 that ur going to have is Tempest Studio's Freelancer 2 mod...they r changing the name tho

What they said, the regular rumors, and lots of mods. I'd reccomend the upcoming New Universe mod by Frost-works. It creates a huge war between the houses, and the players choose sides. When it's relased, there will be other factions though, such as mercenaries, freelancers, pirates, and the Crosairs and Outcasts will be considered houses.

When's New Universe going to be released? It was announced ages ago and looked good back then

It won't be released for a while, but perhaps within the month/beginning of april. Unfornunatly, it's been a really long wait, but it'll be worth it. Trust me.
