Do you ever play FL and think wow anymore??

I am new to the forum. I had wanted a copy of FL ever since it hit store shelves and have only just now bought a copy. I was looking for a new game and remembered that FL was on my top ten. I had just persued buying DE:2 when I saw an old review of FL on a gaming site. Not only was FL only $20 US mow but also it is simply an awesome game. I can't believe the game play, music, grafics, controls and story. The entire game is amazing.

So my question is after looking at all the message boards and MODS avail, and all the disecting that has been done... Do you ever take a simple look at it anymore and just say "DAMN!! This game kicks ass!!"??

Just a question.

Take your time and enjoy the scenery. There are a few of us that still get a royal kick out of playing this game and many of those were beta testing it well over a year ago.

I don't say wow ... but the fact that I'm still playing FL on and off after about 10 months says it for me.

How many other games can hold your interest that long?

the best part is flying thru a sensor-reducing dust cloud in sigma 13, getting jumped by corsairs and GMG... then u try to get to that jump hole only a few K away, and the lightning flashes, and u see a dim outline of something... u fly towards it, wanting to find out what it is. u get close enuff to select it, and 5 corsair titans go "bogey in my sight" and i go OH CRAP cuz its a corsair base

i love flying in those clouds where u cant see nething till the lightning flashes

its like u see this mysterious object ONLY when the lightning flashes... u check it out and u hafta fight off 20 of ur biggest enemies.

when stuff like that happens, when im flying around lootin wrecks in minefields, gas pockets, and sensor-reducing volatile gas fields loaded with GMG eagles and corsair titans that want to blow me up, i just think, "man, this game is just... genius"

its that special feeling u get inside when u get some new codename guns and want to try them out by trying to blow up battleship westfalen and then everything goes hostile with u and it seems like u have killed the entire rheinland army but they keep coming... forever! then u get bored and go home to my special base in omicron alpha and smoke cardamine and blow up BHG

i could go on forever but i have to write an essay for school

ne1 else ever get that feeling of complete euphoria and amazement im talkin about?

Orillion: So trent, will you help us with the mission?

Trent: Sure, as long as I'm not shot at, knocked out, held at gunpoint, electrocuted, skewered alive by giant alien shapeshifters, have to dive out windows, or fight off spindly nomad incubi.

I always find little things in the game that I love. I always forget them later though. Either that or they sound ridiculously cheesy.

I'm making record time!

It all about the MODS. Some of the Mods for FL are just flat out awesome and very creative. There are some elements of the game that are Cheese, but some of the mods make great strides at reducing the monotany. The "Real Space" Mod give a whole new feel to the game and frankly is far more realistic with regard to light and shading. I just started testing out the "Evolutions" Mod in SP mode and I have to say I'm highly impressed with the changes they've made. It's been a blast so far. The combat seems much more realistic with hostiles actually using their shield batteries and nanobots, the pilots have more skill, there are more thrusters with varying top speeds and thruster drains, more realistic pricing for equipment and ships. One of the things I really like is that Liberty has some very heavy defenders which makes sense, because the way it was before if there was a war between Rhineland and Liberty the Rhinelanders would roll Liberty forces with ease since their ships "SUCKED" comparitively. GOOD Job guys!

Yup, it's the 1st game I've played for more then 6 months straight and I mean like at least 4 days a week and it got me on two hardcore FL-forums and a new FL-forum and into a totally-new-game-yet-to-be-develloped-forum. All tnx to FL.

I can't say it enough: Freelancer forever

Freelancer is the best game ever released for the PC, i think! It's not too processor straining, and it's just truly beautiful!
