Careful of bashing, Independent developers can sale to multi platforms while others stay with one. different operating systems from what I understand, like those of CD's vers. carts. Morrowwind was PC only but is available for other systems now.

If Microsoft thinks it will sell well on XBox, they will put it there. FL on Cube or PS2 are less probable though. To tell you the truth, I'm glad it's not on console. If that happens, TLR will be swamped by kiddies who don't know how to type coz they spend too much time with controllers demanding us to tell them how to import our mods to console and won't take no for an answer.

yeh, its better on just PC cos cross-platform ports are often shoddy affairs, so why ruin a great game

@Fear Factor:

Damn straight. More points could be brought up, but you all probably know them anyway. I'm more interested in seeing console titles ported to the PC (that is, IF they can do it right) then the other way around. Consoles expire. People already have PCs... You know...

I really don't see any benefits from a console release either. Mainly because most of the consoles are aimed at preteens who are to crap to actually play their games and have to spend all their little pocket money on Action Replay disks.

On most of the systems I've seen, the graphics haven't been that good. And what would FL be without the great graphics?

All points raised above sounds pretty much senseless. Maybe the real answer is the same as to "why there is no expantion pack".

Do you know how hard FL would be on XBox? You wouldn't have the ultimate precision that only the mouse can harness . If they ever planned on making FreeLancer into a console game, then they would've added joystick suppost.

I'm more interested in seeing console titles ported to the PC (that is, IF they can do it right)
I was really disappointed when Halo came out for PC and co-op wasn't in it 'cause they couldn't get it to work in time by the deadline ;(.

they would have to include some sort of auto-aim or lock-on feature because FL with a joystick would be near imposible. And with a lock on, it would probably automatically lock on to the lead crosshair perfectly... creating the following button combo for the destruction of freelancer:

press A to lock on. press R as fast as possible until enemy ship explodes. Lock on to next ship.

the game would be turned into a mindless button-mash-a-thon

BLAUGHH!

Orillion: So trent, will you help us with the mission?

Trent: Sure, as long as I'm not shot at, knocked out, held at gunpoint, electrocuted, skewered alive by giant alien shapeshifters, have to dive out windows, or fight off spindly nomad incubi.

And that wasn't a senseless response??? Give me a break. We're just trying to discuss the issue, if that's OK with you. You don't have to join in. But if you absolutely have to, maybe you should try making an intelligent remark.

Well, it would probably be "press L to lock on, and then hold A to fire normal shots, B to fire missiles"... (gamecube configuration; I'm not as familiar with the other consoles)

I still don't think they could do it, though.

...And someone said that the consoles' graphics didn't look that great to him/her. Well, they all have their weak games, but I can say that the cube and the Xbox can do some amazing graphics, but it's the low TV resolution that holds them back. I think Freelancer's graphics are similar to F-Zero GX, only with a much higher resolution. Metroid Prime on a monitor would look great (but you'd need a gamepad, and they'd find some way to screw up the port anyway...)
