Eye Strain

I really love playing Freelancer, and have been doing so ever since it's release. However, every time I get into it, I am forced to stop playing due to tremendous headaches and eye strain. I think this is due to the degree of contrast between cruise engines and the blackness of space. Does anyone know of a solution to this problem?

sorry, no solution, it even says that people who get headaches shoudlnt play too often

Change the little attribute on your moniter called "Contrast" and it may work. Also try turning down "Brightness"

The easiest way to avoid eye-strain is, as suggested, to play the computer for short lengths of time. This is not always possible (especially for me ), so I suggest increasing the refresh rate on your monitor. A refresh rate of 85Hz (75Hz minimum) or higher will help to reduce eye-strain. 60Hz is murder on the eyes. Trust me, I know .

Thanks. I've already tried everything that you guys have suggested. I think I'm going to give up on this game (for another two months' recovery, anyway). Oh well.

What tires my eyes are those pale blue systems where you can't see where your aiming point is because the colour is almost the same! With powerful guns it doesn't matter so much, since you can blast your enemies to bits with a couple of hits. But with weaker guns it can be quite hard on your eyes trying to find where the #$%&&# cursor is.

Been lucky, I can play a game for hours and keep on going. Longest game ever for me wasd Finalfantasy VII for 34 hours with only bathroom breaks and grab a soda.

I can only play for about 24 hrs...then I get too tired to keep my eyes open...

34 HOURS!?!?! :O You're addicted, no doubt. I mean sick prevert addicted. I mean 3 days no eating no sleeping addicted. ..........Sorry. I just had to say it. My longest playing session ever was 5 hours while playing Knights of the Old Republic. But seriously, how were you occupied that long? I would get tired of it, eventually. Hell, I can barley stand in one room for 15 minuites . But I prefer a lot of sorta short sessions. This would help people who strain their eyes to play this, play for awhile, relax, play some more, relax, etc.

Ohhh! Beu-tiful! Preeety! How do I blow it up?

34 hours isn't 3 days. Its 1 1/2 days, silly.

Started the 34 hours after getting off work at 5:30 pm. so I was up a lot longer than that, maybe 43 hous up at that . If a game is really good, I lose track of time so easely.
