Question about Gameplay

Just starting out with FL ( and yes, I am trying to learn to fly the mouse ) and wanted to ask a couple of questions. If this is not the right forum pls re-direct me.

1) How can I branch off the Military scenario's and do some "Freighter Flying". Everytime I start I seem to get dragged into running missions for the LSF.

2) Is there a way to snoop around without getting pounced on by every two bit pirate in the Galaxy. All I really want to do is practice with the interface and get a feel for how things work. But, all I get is about 2 to 3 minutes then I am into another firefight with some pirates.

3) I seem to be getting lost all the time. I am presently confined to one system but can't seem to figure out how to get from one place to the next. I am sure thereare some Tech guides out there ... just looking for the link. Maybe a map or two would help.

I have tons more questions but those are for another day ...

Cheers ... Brian

1. You can't. Try finishing the campaign first, it doesn't take long. Then you can do whatever you want.

2. Shoot some police or get a rep hack, to make you nuetral with whatever faction is bugging you.

3. Do you use the nav map? At the top right of your screen there are several buttons, one of them looks like a graph with some planets on it, click on it and the Nav Map will come up. The blue ship icon is your ship.

1) Get OpenSP if you want to skip the Story line.

2) Not really

3) Its called the nav map. (you can fly with a mouse but can't find the nav map )

Ok, some tips:

Push 'F6'-key for NavMap, F3 for dock, F2 for 'Go To' (after you've created a waypoint in your NavMap). If you want to use your mouse effectively, push your space-bar to enable/disable mouse-flying. Use your 'Tab'-key to afterburn (a little more speed) if you're under attack and wants to flee or make combat. IF you've killed an enemy, use the 'b'-key to pick up the loot. I downloaded the trialversion first, was curious about the game, then In I tried it a few times. It was like "Wow !! What a cool game!!", so I decided to buy the game, which I did. This was in early December, almost a half year (or more) after it was released.

If you have LAN or network card, start a server on your own computer.

1. Start FLServer, name your server, wait till its finished loading.
2. Start Freelancer.
3. Select Multiplayer.
4. Select LAN.
5. Select New Character.
6. and you are free to do whatever you want without any storyline to follow.

PS. You don't need other people on the LAN or Server to play.

On help with the server, see the server forum.

Glad to help

What I did is skip through the campaign and then save as "OH YES! FREEDOM!"
because I was so happy that I could finally ditch Juni and do whatever I want.
(It was about 3:00 AM, by the way.)
And whenever I feel like it I go and load that game.

We don't own this place, but we have an understanding with the people who do.....
