Just use your mouse and click on the weapons to turn them off and on.
So when your hud is up and you only want to use weapons 1 and 2 leave them on and click on the other weapons to turn them off.

Turn them all on. I want all the weapons on.

1. main menu, or in game, go into the options
2. go to controls
3. look through the lists until you find "assign weapon control group #". (6).
for each of them, assign the keys ctrl and # (on the keypad, not the 1-0 above the keyboard).
4. go into your game (or return from the menu screen)
5. take off
6. now just press ctlr followed by the keypad (1-6) that you wish to assign your selected weapons to. you have the numbers 1-6 at your disposal, so you have 6 possible combinations per charachter. dont forget to re-assign if you change ships or gun layout. to select the weapons, press the keypad 1-6, as appropriate (dont forget to assign the weapon groups to be selected by pressing 1-6!!!)

Tnx Corwin, now I know it too. I always leave my shieldkillers unselected. Especially on lightfighters you drain power real fast (well, it does on the LF's I use) and a missile is not always an acceptable alternative.

I don't get it. Are there groups like MechWarrior 4 where you can press a button and it fires (for example) 3 PPCs, while another one would fire a LGAUSS. Or are you talking about the CTRL+#(?) function where you can only turn weapons on and off.

@Viper: The latter I think
