yeah, landing's a b*tch, but that's what makes it fun. The only cool thing about flight simulator is trying to land, and that feeling you get when you pull it off. I wish there was a manual dock in FL, I think it would be cool. Then again, I think there should be a lot more things in FL... --- RR16

Anyone noticed that it's the older games that are really difficult (Virus was a nightmare) but they were also much better than a lot of games now.

I've noticed quite a few people yearning for a harder game (and less oxygen pockets). Being forced to dock manually, with shields capable of taking about 10,000lbs explosive power but failing to stop anything bigger than a person might spark new interest. Some lucrative stations being horrible to dock with could add a gambling aspect.

Just a thought...

Seems all MS cares about now when making games is graphics. Some of the newer games with awesome graphics have really crappy storylines *cough*Freelancer*cough*.

So, I know this is a little off topic but whare do you get these Elite PC Adaptions I've searched the internet, but can't find any.

@viper I agree with u on the storyline, but freelancers graphics are to say the least quited dated, and I for one feel FreeLancer could have had better graphics if it was released 2 months later.

I got the PC Elite when it was up on the website. After maybe 6 or 8 months, one of the creators of Elite spotted it and demanded it be taken down. (I think the other creator had said it was all right.) Thus the feud goes on.

The zipped Elite the New Kind file is only about 68 kb. I could attach it to an e-mail, if you post one that gets to you.

I think a lot of the nostalgia for Elite is because it was so revolutionary! It was the first open ended space game. But when you get down to the story line, there wasn't much. Just trade, mine, bounty hunt, pirate, fight off enemy aliens -- buying equipment to upgrade and running up your rating until you eventually got to be elite. There were three missions, which really didn't amount to much: track down some bad guys and one time carry information through hordes of Thargoids who wanted to kill you. At least Freelancer has a story line, even if it does end rather strangely.

a bit off topic, but an old game i liked was called something like UFO defense. anyway when it came out(way back then) it had the best graphics. it was turn based and you controlled everything even which weapon they held. it was 3d and had bad graphics but was an extremly good strategy game.

Heh, I remember Elite.
In fact, I can recommend using an emulator. There's games all over the 'net and no problem finding Elite. I believe there were slightly different versions for different computers. Myself, I used an Atari ST when it came back in the good old days.(sob)*getting misty-eyed*

I haven't played the original UFO, but, there's a new game; UFO: Aftermath, which is really addictive. (Played to 2.30 am, jeez I almost overslept today.)
