Level up will not happen

I am currently a level 8 and i have over the amount of worth needed to goto level 9. However it is not leveling me up. I am stuck in the game because i cannot go on people will not give me missions because i am not advanced enough. I am in the Leeds system just doing easy missions building up cash, but i'm stuck. any help please!?

did you check your level up requirements ? Sometimes it says "Mission" then you must meet Juno and then your level will increase after that mission
if you are playing the campaigngame of course and not the OPEN SP mod

Did you install the update for Freelancer?

The exact same thing happened to me right after I installed the patch. Apparently uninstalling the game (and keeping your save) then reinstalling without the patch will fix it. . . but I never tried that. I just started over (you can make level 7 in a single sitting).
