Targeting questio

Ok...being a newbie, and not having played FL for very long, I have a question about the targeting of ships...Once you have selected a ship as your target, you can view it's individual hard-points (on the lower left of your screen)...and once you have selected a weapon or component can you then effectively diret your attack to disable/destroy said hard-point?

Thanks in advance,

Aeryn

yeah, there is a picture of a ship in a target box on or near the right corner of the contact list, it shows the targetable parts of the ship

Just pummel them to ashes, there's no point wasting your time trying to target specific things, you can pick up odds and ends when they're no more. If you're constantly trying to use the mouse to click on little schematics instead of shooting them down, your going to be knobbled yourself. that's what I find anyway

The hard part with targeting individual ship components is that you have to take time out from maneuvering in order to click on them--not good in a dogfight. I tend to only target components when I go against capships--like where Tobias tells you to target the engines of the Rheinland Gunboats.

I have to agree with Zone, every moment not spent shooting someone is one more moment during which they can shoot you.

Shoot first, ask questions later.

Their cargo is more interesting. Why kill an empty freighter when a ton of Boron is to be had? --- RR16

Whoever came up with "Mission Commision" should be lined up and shot

It is fun though to pick lone NPCs apart. and if you are going to be dueling it pays to target one of thier wings with your guns. Blow off a wing and they lose out on a portion of their offensive abilities. Only exception are Kusari ships where the wings are more like shields. Also it is pointless to target the shield generators, they are in very hard to hit spots and you will likely kill them before destroying it.
