Why there can never be a "best"...
It doesn't exist. Yes, that's right, doesn't exist. There's no such thing as a best ship; there is no such thinga s a best loadout. No stat, no pilot, no amount of arguing can make this myth come true. The "best ship" is in the same category as the class 10 turret and the location of the Osiris...you'll never find it, no matter how long you look.
We've all heard the arguments before..."this does the most damage!", "mine has more armor!", "this one's faster!", "that rig sucks!", and so on. It will never, ever be decided for sure; you'll still be debating this when hell freezes over.
So you argue that class 10's are the ultimate...but every day people in LF's peck those big bad monsters to death...obviously, better they ain't.
Likewise for the LF's...there have been numerous reports of these agile little devils getting blasted to bits by a well placed volley of fire from a VHF.
So who's right? Nobody. Truth be told, you could be good in anything if you know how to fly it. You could fly an LF and beat VHF's all the time, or you could be a VHF that beats LF's all the time. But how, you ask?
Practice. That's right...practice, not configuration, is what makes you better. No matter how high your class is, or how "good" your loadout, if you don't practice you'll get blown away. By anything. And to really know how to counter a vessel, you must first FLY it- you can't just expect to go up against something and win every time if you've never spent the time to get aquainted with that particular ship's capabilities. Only through experience and research can you aquire the ability to exploit a weakness; you can't just get a configuration for that off the top of your head.
"But that takes TIME!"
Well, yes, but did you ever really expect to be the best within a few hours of first logging on, just because you got the highest level ship and gear? Skill does not come with a few guns and a ship, it comes with time invested in actually trying to improve, learning from your mistakes and finding what best suits your unique fighting style.
Which brings me to something else...how can anyone think that someone else's configuration is going to work for them as well? If they're good with it, chances are they came up with that combo by taking the time to really try it out. Don't be surprised if you get one of these "ultimate loadouts" from a veteran and find yourself killed in seconds. Don't say the configuration sucks...because it wasn't made for you! You'll find your own, in time, but again, that takes experience and patience.
So why, in the end, is there no best ship? Simple.
Because there is no best person.

"Although I do not consider myself a member of the Bounty Hunters' Guild, I find that their goals and mine often follow the same path. I will aid them when I can...if they give me a percentage of the salvage from whatever they frag along the way. But god help them if someone puts a bounty on THEIR heads, for I don't care who I hunt for, as long as their live capture(or untimely death) can get me enough credits to buy a decent sized mug of my favorite drink."- A Freelance Bounty Hunter.
