Will There Be a Patch?

Will there be a patch for Freelancer, as I just CANNOT get multiplay to work for any length of time due to random server disconnections. This happens on any servers as I've tried to start new games elsewhere, but I can't sustain a game of any length before there is a disconnection sometimes in the middle of a mission.

I've heard of other people with the same problem.

Erm - there is a patch, and nearly everyone i know of has no problems. If you are playing online and are suffering disconnections - i would look towards other things before just blaming FL, which has proven to be extremely stable.

a) Check YOUR connection to the internet. If you are on a modem especially - noise in the line can cause disconnections for brief seconds
b) Server connection might be lousy - this is less likely though because you say it happens on every server you go on.
c) You have a mod running, and the patch detects your mod and boots you instead - hence your random 'disconnections'

Seriuosly - due to the vast amounts of players who have never complained or experienced these problems - i suggest you look to your equipment and software before blaming others.

Okay, I'll elaborate, I'm using Windows XP Pro, with McAfee Viruscan running in the background, I'm using British Telecom as my ISP running an ADSL Broadband connection.

I play other games online, mainly No One Lives Forever 2 and Soldier of Fortune 2, both of which run with no problems whatsoever for hours at a time. I DO have a mod installed, the Rebalance Mod, but using Mod Manager 1.2 I have it deactivated.

Now seeing that I've had no problems with other games, can you really blame me for beginning to wonder if its the game itself?

However, having knowledge about mods, it is more than likely the rebalance mod. If you know about mods, FLMM will not remove all the files, any systems files, ships files and other files will still be in your game. It removes alot of files, but it won't always deactivate properly either, although it won't pull a message up about this. I would suggest that you delete the FL folder, then reinstall the game(notice delete, not uninstall - and reinstall without the delete will still leave files behind) and then have a go.

If you still have problems when you have done that, then i would look towards connection (bt aren't great (fellow brit ), and possibly your connection to the servers - where are the servers located, are they known as stable (servers sometimes do just crash and dump people - or if there is bad lag you might get disconnected too)

After that - it might be the game - but i still doubt it.

Okay, delete the Freelancer directory...I get that, do I delete the directory for Mod Manager as well, and is there any way of saving save game files or am I just as well scrubbing those as well?

Oh no - shouldn't need to del FLMM - but can delete autosave to be safe. Other than that - to delete save games - its go into FLMM - select from the menu bar at the top some of the options - one will have go to save game folder - click it and then you can cut and paste them somewhere else - or just select all and delete!
