concept: missle to missle defense

anyone ever tried hitting a missle with an other missle, say a cannonbll missle with a well aimed wasp missle? Or maybe stopping a torp with the same method.

Agreed, but if you could buy a MDS and it can only target missles, that would be interesting.

Not nessacairly another missle, but a laser or something.

Since I'm flying my Eagle in cockpit view, it's easy to spot the incoming missiles and just blast them with my guns. Fast and easy ... while it would not be so easy to target a missile with another missile. Plus if the missile isn't going to hit you anyway, why waste a missile on it?

To see if you can do it I suppose. Kinda like trying to hit a fighter with a starkiller

just thinkin of new ways to add stuff to the game, but a point defence laser would be cool.

@DJscratchman, did u tried that already???

i would know if it's possible... but a normal stalker can do the job also (better speed and turnrate then a normal (javalin type) or EMP missile...

and that's a lot cheaper then using a wasp or even hornet missile... kk, the missile is a little longer on his way to reach target (the incoming missile)... and against fighters u don't use thus stalkers, but ur normal or emp missiles...

it's a good idea, but for incoming missiles who r coming at ur six is maybe countermeasure better... or just like i do, do nothing about them and follow ur patch, the missile is tracking u and ur dodging some1 else and the missile will miss u, co'z it's to unmaneuvrable...

but the idea is good... only the type off missile what u where using for it isn't a good idea (blast range cruise disruptor 50m, toredo 32m, missile 16m (or was it torp 16m and missile 32m))

If u c some1 in a defender make fireballs from hunter it can be me

Hey, look what I found... a new idea... OK I think this is what im gonna make next - been running outta ideas...

Here's what it's gonna be - a series of three turrets - they don't use energy, but have a refire of 0.5 and take a lot of energy to fire, but the turn rate will be pretty high. The only little problem will be the seeker cone - it's gonna be small, so you still have to use a lot of skill

And i'll make a point defense turret - a laser that has a refire of 50, takes 5 energy per fire and deals two damage, so one hit will kill any weapon shot at you, but won't deal much damage to other ships

Keep an eye out - I'll be releasing it in maybe a week, depending on how much time i have

i fire my "lasers" on those glowing missiles that explode when they hit you and they detonate if they got hit by a lasers: best defense ever ... he guess what i reinvented the SDI system

firstly ive hit a torp with a wasp missile.

secondly how do u fly in cockpit view?

1. Cockpit view: Strg+v is standard u can look it up in the settings menue
2. why not make a mine that explodes about 3 secs. after release that kills all incoming missiles ( dont know if this is possible since i'm not into modding anyway), would be cooler than a Anti-Missile Missile!!??
3. or make a jamming system to be mounted on the ship??!!

I think the only way to do that is to set it to blow if there's a target within 250 meters - you move at 80m/s, so at that time you're 240 m away. if you make the explosion radius 50m, you're probably gonna get most of it - plus, you can set the damage it deals to about 5 hull so it wont hurt ships much, but it'll kill all missiles, mines, etc from 190m behind you to 290m

Flechette Point Defense Laser
Shockwave Point Defense Mine
