just curious.....
I tried the in-cockpit view briefly... it was an interesting view, as it gave more of an impression of actually flying the ship, but because the point-of-view is down in between all of your guns, you often can't see clearly when you're firing, so I had to switch back to the outside view every time I went into battle... finally I just gave up on it.

Unfortunately i fly in 3rd person.
I love flying in cokpit mode, even do simple combats in it, but the weapons flare tends to "blind" you to the target.
However, i did try in a falcon, with only rapiers (which dont have weapon flare), and missiles. Made combat feel a hell of a lot more personal.
Just my $0.02, but it could just be the cardamine talking.
Violence isn't my only option. Its just what I do best.

i have to use the 3person view it seems easier to aim in the cockpit view, but it kinda confuses me, cuz im used to be able to see the enemies BEFORE THEY ARE ABLE TO FIRE AT ME....aiming and timing....choose what you like and manage yourself out....
to kill or to be killed...if it lives, kill it...if it stands, level it to da ground...if in doubt?WIPE IT OUT!

i play also in 3th person view...
some cockpits r great (liberty, kusari) and some r just ugly (civilians)
i find the 3th person view better to play, u can see ur target from a greater angle and disange...
i tried also 1th person, but i didn't like that well... u can't see how big ur fighter is and from where they fire at if ur in the cockpit...
If u c some1 in a defender make fireballs from hunter it can be me

1st person view makes fighting a bit more fun, also I think the aim is a bit better in 1st person view.
However, I use only 3rd person view as it's more comfortable for me to spot enemies and, ofcourse, the shots blind me.
Personally I don't think the cockpits look all that great, but that's just my humble opinion.
I'm still looking for a equipmentdealer who can mount a few rear viewing mirrors on my Eagle, so I can actually use my turret And it would force me back to 1st person view.

1st person is a bit easier to follow and target an enemy. I use it when those pesky light fighters are flying circles around my freighter. 3rd person does have a wider view, and also is easier to tell who is shooting at you!

Depends on the ship. I love the cockpit view in the Eagle, with your guns blazing and the enemies' lasers screeching across your own shields. You can see exactly where you are aiming in combat. But in some ships, the cockpit view is horrible! You feel like you are inside a cardboard box that shakes and contracts as you fly. Plus you can't see worth cr*p except straight ahead. When I was using a Titan, I had to use 3d person view. The cockpit view drove me crazy. Also, I remember some other ship that wiggled so much in the cockpit view that it almost made me air sick ... space sick or whatever. I think the Drake was another one I had to use external view in.

Outside! I just dnt get the feel inside. It just makes me feel a lot less realism if i cant see the smooth white lines comin of tha end of ma wings! ooooohhhh it sends shivers down my spine thinkin of all tha horrible times i cuda....no wait...... WUDDA died if i was in cockpit veiw. After all there arnt may good 3rd person shooters out there so lets me make a toast to the sheer exelence of the 3rd Person Veiw!
