Level in the game

How high level can I get in Freelancer. I have seen players with lvl 38 and one player with lvl 51 Is that possible ore is it a cheater, the one with lvl 51?

51?!? That is impossible. 38 is the highest

LV 38 is the highest level in Single Player, in Multiplayer 99 is the max level.
