Hi, I''m new here and already have a question.

This is a free discussion forum on Freelancer. This is the place to discuss Freelancer issues NOT covered by the other boards!

Hi, I''m new here and already have a question.

I may be new here, but over the years have played several Space combat/trading games such as Privateers, Wing commander and the Venerable Elite on the C64.

Anyway, I bought Freelancer a few weeks ago, but didn't really have a chance to play it much until recently due to having 2 kids, family life REALLY sucks up my time .

Anyway, I've finally started playing it and I've got a nice Defender ship and I'm at a lowly level 4 ATM and a little bit of cash and the access to jump between systems. I'm currently exploring the Colarado system.

So, the question is, I'd like to to some trading and Im wondering if anyone knows of some good trade routes (I.E. good profit margins) to use in either the New york or Colorado system?

And Hi

hi welcome to the boards
the information you ask for would be a spoiler so we cant post it here try the spoiler forum, its likely already answered in one of the threads there but if not ask again there

Yeah, I was gonna post the question there, but since this was also an intro thread, I thoguht I may as well pop it in here.
But OK, I'll ask there.

Anyway, I'm dead impressed with Freelancer, graphically it's awesome and the storyline is good too.

I kinda miss being able to transfer power from shilds to different shield locations around the ship (like in Xwing vs Tiefighter), also missiles seem pretty useless to me, but maybe I need to find the right type of missiles.

And the joystick thing took a bit of adjustment, but I like the mouse control now.

all in all, Freelancer will have my attention for some time to come.

If you're looking for good trade routes, just keep landing on all the bases and plannets you find. You'll instantly get all of that location's prices for goods and will be able to find excellent trade routes. Usually raw material from mining ships can be bought dirt cheap and sold for a huge profit on Capital plannets, but I'm not saying more before it becomes a spoiler. --- RR16

Whoever came up with "Mission Commision" should be lined up and shot

Thanks for the tips, but as suggested, I scoured the Spoiler forum and found some tips there.
As it turned out, at my current level, the strategy I'm using ATM before I posted this question, (for my level and current finances) is the best one, which is nice in a way.

Consider Freelance as a new version of Elite. There's obviously a lot of ELite in the game...

Yeah, I kinda trade my way through the complete SP-campaign. Even in MP I have only done just e few missions, they're good for making quick cash and require low investment (maybe only a few missiles/CM's/Mines/bats/bots)
And the loot you get from the kills bring in some cash too.
But I concider myself a trader, I like it that way

Anyway, Welcome to TLR! I hope you like it here.
The Spoilerforum has a lot (really) usefull info. If you want to know anything about FL, you want to go there.

Have fun!

Yeah trading seems faster for me anyway.

After doing a search on "trade routes" in the spoiler forum, I found a useful thread.

And thanks for the welcom.

BTW, I'm trying to convince some of my friends to get FL, it's pretty cheap now and I'd like to blow their ships into little pieces
