why are neutral groups attacking me?

I spent a bunch of time killing xenos in order to get the outcasts, the liberty rogues, and the lane hackers to 'not hate me'. All their names are no longer red, so they shouldn't attack me anywhere. When I tried to go to the Mactan Base all of them attacked me, and I couldn't dock there. I concequently died as I didn't expect to be attacked. (this is on a friend of mines internet/lan server for the game). Anyway, first off, why are they attacking me and not letting me dock. Secondly, is there any way I can get them to stop attacking me without making many people hate me. thx in advance

neutral factions become hostile if an ally of thiers who is hostile to you is in the vicinity

Read the post steel. All the factions at mactan were neutral.

@veqryn Although what steel said was valid it might have that one of them asked you to 'drop the cargo' and when you refused they decided to attack. If that isnt what happened them Im stumped

I see this all the time on MP, the faction name turns white and you still get attacked.
Just go kill a few more Xenos AFTER it turns white, to get the bar one more 'tick'.

I think thats happened to me b4. Do what Frobozz said and you should be fine

Who are you and why are you reading my quote?

k, will do, although this isn't the first time I've seen this, my roommate had the same problem with the corsairs, and he was white with them too. Time to kill more xenos and hope it all improves

I bribed a the Junkers once, and allmost everyone went neutral or friendly. I was left with only two or three enemies

I think it is likely that the Hackers were still hostile - they respond the least to Xeno bashing. If your rep is exactly on the hostility threshold (-0.60) then it can happen that the reputation list shows 'neutral' but the bogies are actually hostile.

BTW, don't waste your time with Xenos. There are plenty of depots (Liberty Police, DSE, Interspace, Gateway, Bounty Hunters ...) that allow you to improve your rep in mere seconds.

Actually, Xenos do help Hacker rep. However: Corsairs don't care one bit about Xenos, killing Mollys makes them happy.

To see the real poop about faction interaction, I use 'Alliances Excel list':

Ya, Depots are the way to go, especially with a new character. MP, they may be gone already tho...and admit it:
Poppin Xenos is just good fun. Love those Adv.Scorpion loot, and only downside is ya gotta go bribe Zoners eventually.

I joined the unioners just for fun and they shot me when i was under attack. Ive hated them since.

Also, the alliances are so complexly inter-woven that it may be a "Friend of a friend" of the hackers that dislikes you (Blood Dragons, perhaps?) that causes them to fire. Also, just because you're neutral with the group as a whole doesn't mean every pocket will like you. If you've been attacking hackers near Mactan base, the AI in the game remembers it. Regaurdless of what the box says, you kill a guy near his base, they're gonna hate you. --- RR16

No matter what you do, you still have enemies. Can someone tell me was a junker was doing on the LPI Sugarland?

Rogues: I have the enemy in my scopes, i'm locking on
Me: God, i'm in a starflier and you still can't shoot, go back to boot camp and learn there.

The thing is you went to a base. I think bases might go by a different "neutrality" rating then elsewhere. For example, I got neutral with the Red Hessians once. Flew by several of their wings, they were neutral. Used their jump hole, still neutral. Didn't kill anything. Flew to their base, it suddenly turned hostile. I think you have to be on better relations than just barely neutral to be able to use bases.
