Auto Turrets! WHY NOT!!!!

Yes this had been talked about before, but there has been now good reason for why Auto-turrets can't be done. Has anyone done or doing a mod for this? It would be a very good add-on for this game.

Ay, Ive know the times this woulda come in handy, belive you me! Maybe it cant be done, but dont ask me, Ive got my eye on my own mod at the minute...
Oh and really this shoulda gone in the Mod forums but heres a perfectly good place to put it. And welcome to the forums, hint: Dont make this sorta "mistake" more than once otherwise youll be flamed from here to next wednesday... not a pretty sight..

Same as the Invisable mod that's One mod that should never be made. Just need to meantion Aimbot and you will get the idea. Cheats aree bad enough with out auto aim.

basically the more automated the ships the less fun

Yes, but using the turrets when you want to fire backwards (thats what they're there for right ) is only usefull when you are docking. In midflight it sucks and the autoaim would come in handy.
As a result, I hardly ever use my turret, unless it's a forward facing turret.

The day I see auto-tracking class 9 and 10 wepons is the day I lose interest in this game. If it ever happens, I for one am out of here.

It's a poor idea, especially for any game with a multiplayer mode.

If someone does make a auto aim mod, then it's up to whoever if they use it or not. It's not like you get forced my Gun point to use any other mod. So if you use it, you use it. if not, then you don't. up to you.

anyway, it was just a question. I don't really care if it's made or not. I just wanted to have some fun with the game now I've finished it.

As to that warning about your mistake, just bear this in mind, while posting in this place...

Anything you say can and probably will be thought of as spam by at least some of the people here. Here, 'spam' is a loosely defined and is a dynamically changing concept.

My worry would be that it would drain your energy and that it might not shoot at what you wanted it to (ya know, transport farming) or vice versa (in a populous system some sorry brit freighter is attacking you. if you shoot, everyone becomes hostile...) what would be nice is a crew! You could hire people to be gunners for your turrets, and they could gain skill over time... ooo! This is goin places...

I think that the turrets should just automatically point themselves at the selected target, and fire at right-click.

Yeah i have seen that in Rogue leader on Gamecube, in some ship,
but the problem was the auto aiming usually misses.

auto turrents would make the game a tad easier than i'd like it to be.
