Who else has tried that new Next Generation mod?

This may be the wrong forum, but here is where i'll catch the most people that have tried it. To ne1 who's offended, i apologize, all who aren't, good. Anyway, the mod. Is it cool or what?! Its like a whole new game!

Oddly enough (whatever) after I downloaded this everythings gone wrong and now im gonna have to reinstall Freelancer!
But dont let this put you off, its has great promise.

Me:Ok One last chance to surrender!
Enemy:WHAT! We outnumber you 6 to 1!
Me: Maybe I could drop some weapons to make it easier for you!

I like the added variety of ships.. but getting into TLs with a battleship is a bish

Install the TNG final, you have to uninstall and then delete the FL folder. In fact you really need to do this after every mod change. The FL folder always keeps extra files there even after uninstalling and de-activating mods. This TNG mod is the most stable mod I've ever played. It's good. I wish there were more system mods in it but I guess thats where you get into unstable mod making. It's worth trying it out for sure.

Yep, hours of fun to be had messing around in the shadow cruiser. (please, no reference to best ship threads). Starfyre have added new depth to the game.

Orillion, Have you tried reinstalling freelancer and then running the mod again? This would appear to be the standard procedure. It’s worth trying a few things, it’s a great Mod.

I love the FL: TNG mod!! It's great! I'm flying around in the Enterprise. It's great! I also love the captial ships, but not so good for story missions.

i just got introd to tng today, and i tell you, its thrilling even befor you start playing, i musta spent a whole 2 minutes just watching the start screen, then sum real friendly guy named bonzo scratched me 1mil wen i entered, i immeadiatly go look for a good ship, and find the independance, a sweeeeet ship, my complements to starfyre, i seem to hav had a LOT of lukk, seeing as i got 3 of each of the house guns and the bretonia one is always a turret for sum reason, as for the dragonbeam, its always a cannon, and a nomad-anialator, again, my complements to starfyre, and 2 of those power booster upgrades, still havent come across the other two upgrades im lookin for, but ill keep searchin.

this is a great mod, its not even a mod its an unofficial sequal, i highly reccomend this to any1 willing to expand the game far beyond the easter egg worlds

To be quite honest I find TNG horribly overpowered and completely unballanced. All the original ships are totally messed up and all those new ones...well.......

The weapons Starfyre made are a complete waste. Why? Just waste a few NPC's and use their weapons, then look at the difference between the TNG weapons and the original ones.

The Battleships use shields. Wha? Yes, the Battleships use shield. Also the BS don't have *any* sound. The Gunboat had only the thruster sound.

Weapon inforcard aren't updated. I found simple guns that had a Torpedo inforcard. Commodities that used mine infocards.

The Ringworld system bases display the wrong numbers. Ie Base 1 says it's Base 2 (this is just an example)

Hail a Shadow ship and find out they have the Zoner voice set O.o

The last version I used was 1.59 so it wasn't a real outdated version. Needles to say, this mod won't be installed anymore.
I applaud them for the enermous effort they put into this mod but I certainly don't like it one bit. You may flame me for this but that won't change my opinion about TNG.

Those guys did one heck of alot of work for that mod, and i do kinda enjoy it - but a few grumbles (I still like it though).
Guns - just too powerful, there is no competition from normal pirates etc, only shadow ships instead.

Amount of ships sold at manhatten - well, the pick of the bunch is right there, or just one jump away.......

The Nexus - you can go anywhere WAY to quick - make it just cap planets instead.

Everything old is rendered useless - i got bored of fighting NPC's as you can pummel them too easy

Trading is lost.........
No new commodities that i have found (aint been EVERYWHERE yet though) and also, start off i looted nearly 100k's worth of stuff. Within about 20 mins i had brought a 500k ship, and was decked out with these 'rare' special guns (classs 1 things) that mean NO-ONE uses anything BUT them!! They are all you need....and you can make millions doing missions in New York and selling the booty...........takes away any challenge at that point.

The game is now totally unbalanced - basically its you versus either capships or shadows if you want opposition, and i killed capships easy in the bounty hunter ship with those 'class 1's '. Everything else is rendered obselete.

I have to agree - capships with shields, thrusters? same goes for anything like that too - common...........
Can take a capship down in a fighter without one torp being shot - common - unrealistic too.

Apart from that - the level of modding is incredible. It doesn;t half amaze me what they have done, and i do enjoy playing it (mainly the 'wow' factor of finding new stuff - mainly ships)....it is possibly my mod of choice, after HU 8.1 - which i find just a little more 'level' for myself.

p.s - don't bother flaming - I do love the mod, and am fed up with people getting hostile over a disagreement. I LIKE IT, i play it - that says enough, i have just pointed what i thought was lacking / too unrealistic.
Apart from that, am looking forward to 2.0 to see what they have improved.
Just hope trent doesn't look so gay, thankgod they gave us that costume change.

i dunno chips, its not easy workin up the dough to get the better ships considering you only get 100k at the start, thats chicken feed for most players, and even when you do get enuff, you gotta take on the xeno's in their heavy uber battleship fleets, its not as eazy as it looks, and you are right, cap ships shouldn't have shields, but i guess starfyre wanted to make it a little more fun for people, but still, it is very difficult to play without getting the best of everything, and its hard to get that... so your rite, it could be improved, but i dont think there is much else they can do to make it better

Oh hell no- its great fun!. Nothing is better as a mod right now, well.....I haven't played through Giskards HU yet, and that looks pretty darned cool.....
