Impulse buying...

What do you reckon is the best way to make loadsa quick dosh in Freelancer? Personally, I prefer to do trade runs from New Berlin to New Tokyo with Diamonds and Optical Chips... but unlike other traders, I do this in a heavy fighter rather than a freighter...

A better question would be, what do you spend all that money on after you've got it? Its not like you can save up to buy a battleship, is it?... Hey, there's a thought...

Save money to buy better weapons, shields, and ships. When you have the best ship you can get (Sabre, of course), the best weapons and whatnot you can buy, then the money could be used for bribes. Other than that, just let it build up to increase your levels.

I've recently finished the game and had been pondering the same question - ind found that now, as long as I've at least got enough cash to pay for repairs and shield batteries and whatnot, money no longer matters. Therefore, at this point, trade runs are irrelevant, too.... so, I'm just working on tweaking my rep, and exploration. I think once I've got the map explored, I'm done. I can't think of anything else to do after that....

You see, thats the thing, until an expasion comes out, I'll have to do trade runs between New Berlin and New Toyko until I get bored ridged or blown apart by pirates... And, yes, I have downloaded that X-Lancer Teaser!

get some big mods loaded boys, brings the whole game to life again. really does. I'd have packed FL in a fortnight after fifnishing the SP missions if it wasn't for Rebalance, TNG and MAO as well as all the others.

Or if you don't like the balance or integrity of modding, then go to MP and interact with players, socially (help newbies, escorting) or anti-socially (pirating, PK)! In other words PvP servers. If you use a lot of external ordenance in your weapons makeup you need to generate a lot of cash to pay for it. If you have a good loadout of Ripper mines, Starkillers, Cannonballs and advanced CMs, one fight could cost you hundred's of thousands of credits! I've lost count the amount of times I've PvP'd on Elite in the last five months. Good thing I am guns only, eh?

Ah, I can't do MP, it doesn't work with my game, it says it is gathering servers and doesn't do anything. I can't start my own server because the server maker crashes and says it's performed an Illegal operation...

Shame, really, cos my freind hass got this games as well...

Ya want an expansion? Try the TNG mod. It is like a whole new game! There are tons of ships and they cost tons of money and weapons too. Makes you work for your money (significant ammounts anyway) and the loot is sooomuch better. Really, itslike a new game

We who are about to die salute you!

If you've got the firepower, the most fun way to make a lot of cash is to go up to a criminal base (Like Rochestar or buffalo), blow of their turrents, and kill any and all fighters. Then, tractor their loot and guns and keep killing fighters until you get bored. Even if your cargo bay fills, you can tractor as many weapons as your heart desires. Sell the guns and stuff and repeat. I once made 30,000 in a single run. Also, try attaking Junkers bases, they usually have such nice things. But of coarse, if you want to "buddy up" to the criminal types, maybe this isn't your path. --- RR16

I got to Level 38 in SP, bought a titan, equiped it with Nomad Cannons and enjoy taking stuff out with it!

Then I try MP and have that crappy thing to fly about in and get toasted all the time! I just can't face going through all the hassle of building up my character again.

He says, logging on again.
