Hull Killers

Oookay, now we all know about the stunpulse weapons and their "amazing" ability to kill shields relitivly quickly but what the hell about hull killers? You know great at ripping hulls into confetty but crap against shields. It makes sense! I remember a PS1 game, Colony Wars:Red Sun where you had General Purpose Lasers, Shieldkillers and Hullkillers, so why isnt this the same here? Dont know. Also who thinks hullkillers are a good idea?

Oh and the Gauss Cannon from that game bypassed shields entirly but paid with weak power and a tendancy to get hot.....

normal weapons already do twice as much hull damage. No need for special hull-killers, they'd rip down ships waaaay too fast :p

A good player can kill you in one pass if your in simmilar setup VHF's, so no need for extra fire power.

Stuff the hull killers....

How about being able to use a 2x4 against a docked pilot?
You dont need to kill their hull if you crush their skull

Just my $0.02, but it could just be the cardamine talking.
Violence isn't my only option. Its just what I do best.

May I vote out my super missile, only availible to the player...
Fast, agile, and many... and at least, POWERFUL!
Fire in a wing of 5 fighters, BANG! space dust...

Missile carries the callsign: Micro Nuke. I am currently making plans for another ship, nicknamed "Bombardier" Name says its job, weak vs fighters. Strong vs Capitol ships...

But seiriously a weapon that could penetrate shields has to be worth it, am I right? No probably not. Well at least it dosent matter, my ship is more than a match for most things anyway...

I've got some really heavy weapons mounted, yet oddly enough, on the first pass against most enemies, I just take down their shields and they take no hull damage. Are any of the 'codename' weapons just pulse weapons? The diamondback, for example, says it does over 1000 points of hull damage and however much shield damage... I dunno, maybe my problem's just the different weapon speeds...

Part of the problem is... if your target has 1 unit of shield power remaining, and you hit it with a blast from a Diamondback, the shield will still absorb it so you do no hull damage. Same thing if you hit it with a cannonball, sunslayer or a ripper mine. Varying projectile speeds actually helps with this somewhat... for instance, on a Sabre you could use a Rapier turret (class 8 pulse weapon, 700 m/s projectile speed) and its shot will land slightly before those from your 600 m/s guns (codenames, nomads, etc) softening up the shield for these big guns.

However, don't use loadouts where the projectile speeds vary by more than 100 m/s or so as it'll mess up your auto-targeting.

For Sheild---Tizona Del Cid
Mixed---Nomad energy Blaster

Wow! After the first few posts I thought this had left for dead! Well I know I want a sunslayer for my hull problems, or failing that CODENAME weapons.
