Freelancer with the depth of Morrowind/Gothic/Arancum

Does anyone think computers now have, or will in the near future, enough power to maintain a game world like Freelancer but with each world having the depth of the RPGs mentioned in the title, and having the worlds interacting with one another?

I've been giving much thought of how to make Freelancer have longevity after the SP missions are finshed and the only thing I can think of is a living world that goes about its daily business with you interacting in it how you like. I figure the computations of all the AI agents, (even after optimziations) would push the top CPUs of today to their limits, but maybe someone has another way of giving FL longevity?

until M$ butchered the game there was a distinct possibility...

now...its no more than a slightly upgraded LAN game....

Just my $0.02, but it could just be the cardamine talking.
Violence isn't my only option. Its just what I do best.

Yes, modders are working to make the game better. Unfortunately, they may not be able to make FL the game it was supposed to be

MS might have butchered it, but if it wasn't for MS, there would be nothing at all to be butchered. DA would've gone bankrupt before finishing it.

FL was already 5 years in the making, and when MS took over as publisher, they actually exerted a deadline.
