posting pictures

ive been roaming this site for a while now, seeing people that are posting pictures..I tried to copy/paste....doesnt work..pulling it over... doesnt work.... please tell me how...(probably something very simple or not)

you have to have it hosted on a site, and when you have the URL, you would type in , for example [.IMGwww.mysite.com/picpage/picture.jpg[./IMG WITHOUT the periods
