nav map questions

sometimes i see funny things on the nav map.

whats it when there is a big black circle around someting in a nebula.

also on the mission where you go to tekagi's arch, look at his base on the nav map. there's some weird picture on it. i've seen this picture on asteroid miners too i think.

dark circles in nebulas and asteroid fields sometimes mean they're clear areas, no rocks or gas.

The last word is mine. Always.

Sometimes they mark the coronas of stars, like in Sigma-13 where the system's all a big gas cloud. Helps you to not fly into them. Omega-41's "star" has one around it too, staying out of that zone is wise.

Ever get the feeling... you're standing on plastic?

One time I tried to see how close I could get to the neutron star in Omega-41. I went to cruise speed and got to within 1000 m of it, and then sped away as quick as I could, but even so it ate up my entire supply of nanobots (I was flying a Dromedary). The radiation damage was over 200 units/second!

I think somebody goofed on the information for the neutron star, though. When I click on the information button and read the entry for it, it says that the neutron star is about as large as an ordinary star. However, anybody who knows about neutron stars knows that they are hyper-dense, compressing a star's mass into a space less than a hundred kilometers in diameter.
