battle ship mods?

If it's well balanced, it's not cheating. The problem is finding one that's well balanced.
For example, the gunboat mod I'm currently experamenting with- although it has lots of firepower and lots of shielding, it flies like a brick building, the main gun can't swivel, it can't use a thruster, or carry cargo, the class was limited to 7/8 for the turrets and 10 for the single foreward gun, and it can't dock with many of the smaller asteroid bases, because their ports are simply too small to get back out of. Fighters can quickly swarm and destroy it-I accidentally shot a station in New Berlin and barely made it out from that small section of the system alive(whereas a fighter could have thrusted, engine killed, and simply glided away).
Balance is key. Most mods are designed around the "I-wanna-kill-everything" concept, which means nearly impenetrable shields, wads of class 10 weapons, and rediculous speed. When you find a nicely balanced one, it can be a real pleasure to use.
