Space is so Crowded!

Well i've been playing Freelancer for about 3 days now with something in the area of 14 hours on my game. Its a cool game and I like it so far, but why are there wave after wave after wave of hostile ships coming out of nowhere to attack me above everyone else? I mean there must be cloaked carriers that just follow me around to make any kind of exploration a royal pain in the a$$. And of course you cannot run from these groups, because in the time it takes to go to cruise speed you get pounded into oblivion, and if you can make it you get disrupted. Sorry its been a very frustrating morning...i just find this aspect of the game kind of insane. I thought space was supposed to be big and empty, not full of ships. Is there any mod or anything that gives you a cloaking device? I've looked at both of the friendly mods, im to far in the game to use the one, and not far enough to use the other. I just want to explore!!

Whats the best ship you can get around lv.13 in the Kusari system?

Have you tried the Drake? If you can get it, it's an extremely maneuverable ship -- outflies almost anything.

(Only thing I wonder about in Freelancer is how many ships and pilots those "outlaw" factions can have. They must have entire planets of people to provide so many ships.)

Birthrate is 10 per second, instant adult pilots

Its the same when you are hostile to the Bounty Hunters.

Then again, they are vermin, they must breed like them

Maybe that's why you hardly see anybody when you are planet side. Everybody is off flying around space!

Must be test tube babies, clones probably since so many people look alike ... same faces, figures, all them wimmin wif huge boobs. I like the big boobs part, but they've also all got big butts.

but if u go to far from thus patriot patches and trade line routes u c nobody (frankfurt c2, omicron gamma c3 for example), but nearby thus trade line routes and patriot patches r many fighters (it seems inpossible to not see pirate bases and of route bases and jh, like the ai have in the game (rheinland looking for bruchsal base, liberty looks for rogeus bases and all)...

if u look at the info by planet tokyo, there lives 200 million people, but exist just 795 years (from 5AS to 800AS).

liberty is 1AS when they landed on manhattan... and only on manhattan lives 220 million people (and almost the same in space around the planet... if u shoot them down)

It's a game. It's not realistic. GASP!

Post Mon Aug 11, 2003 7:37 am

Realistic games are OK, but oh-darn-blood-got-on-my-keyboard-after-arm-gets-blown-off realistic games get annoying after the first few seconds...

After a certain point, the realism brings the fun down.

Ever played the old Privateer? You'd blow up ships and occasionally bloody arms and hands would fly by your cockpit window.

p.s. Doom was fun when it came out. But the 99,000 Doom clones on the market bore me silly.

I'm an exploringy type of person too, and I must say, I've found the number of ships attacking you in deep space to be a little frustrating, especially outside Liberty where almost everyone has cruise disruptors........

It was easy in Liberty coz I could just whiz about between all waypoints set at patrol path intersections with cruise engines on in free flight, with only the Lane Hackers able to shut down cruise.

Drop lots of countermeasures. They can distract cruise disrupters and let you keep going ... well some times anyway.

Use thrusters, glide trick, to increase your lead to over a 1000 then some may break off. Keep it up or engage the remaining enemy dogs.

You know, maybe all the Outcasts, Pirates, etc. just have Autosave too and thats why they keep coming back...quick can you kill them all and get away before they load their saved game?!

That would explain alot.
But you have to admit it keeps the game at least somewhat interesting after you have acquired your vhf of choice and all the equipment you want.
And if you are that much better than the npc's and have killed a lot of them, of course they'll do a lot to take you out.

The titan doesn't fly like just any cow. It flies like a bloated, legless, old, sick, dying one.
