Never by the Rogues or most other factions. But the Outcasts once blew the defecation out of me when I unknowingly jumped into their home system. I was wasted so fast that I didn't even know what happened. I had to reload the game and jump in a second time just to see who was shooting at me! The Red Hessians once shot both wings off of my Anubis before I could managed to jump into a friendlier system and spend lots of creds rebuilding my ship. I had to run like hell to get away, with only one gun left firing and no bats or bots. It was NOT fun.

...are you joking, or can you actually get parts blown off of your ships in this game? I've gotten the crap beaten out of me a few times, but no losses of wings or other major shipboard extremities thus far...

I once lost the wings of my starflier.

I found the swarms of Wolfhounds in Bering surprisingly tough - unlike Rogues elsewhere they actually do some damage. When I jumped in via the jumphole from Hudson I ran into several sixpacks of the Wolfhounds; the welcoming committee took care of the shield battery that I had brought for an emergency, and then the second wing softened me up for the encounter with the third. No battery drops, but one very dead Dagger at the end. The 750 m/s speed of the Rogue's guns makes them more dangerous to a ship like the Dagger that cannot dodge well, compared to the 600 m/s speed of the guns that the Mollys are using.

The Rogues almost got me another time in New York, when I took a mission to experiment with a Starflier with 1 x Justice Mk I, 1 x Stunpulse and 1 x Javelin and class 1 shield. The mission consisted of a single serving of 12 Bloodhounds (this was MP, not SP), and me with this unfamiliar loadout ...

You know in the freelancer level 2 mod, first mission i got in a starflyer which was 7k was up against some 1337 ****ing wolfhound rogues in jersey debries.

I barely lasted 2 minutes.

I'm actually not ashamed to say that I was offed by the rogues. I know it happened a lot in MP, but that's another story entirely involving me, and some Rogues that seemed like Corsairs. But, in SP, I was heading from Pittsburgh to Manhattan and, since this was my first time playing... I had no freaking clue how to use the trade lanes!

So I was going along, kicking the rogues around every so often and I was about 50KM from Manhattan when I suddenly exploded in the middle of a rogue attack. I don't even remember the female voice saying "Shield Failed" I just died. Needless to say, I quickly learnt how to use the trade lanes.

I hope you didn't kill the spider-legged Dwemer...

Started a new game and was running down to pick up the Flint when I got distracted by my 9 year old. Next thing I know I'm pinballing off multiple
asteroids, just after I get my trusty(sic) Starflier staightened out, bamm
I get jumped by 4 LR ships. My Starflier is now scattered across the asteroid landscape. Got to love this game!

@LethalLarry , yes u can... u can even lost only weaps (and no wing) or shoot it away by other fighters/freighters...

i shooted multiple weaps from a ai ship away ... without the wings and all, just do target sellect (so u can see him in ur leftbottom screen) then sellect his gun, or other compartion (wing, fin) and ur aim will shoot at that part insteed to the middle of the ship...

the battleships can be easy destroyed that way.... other shoot at the whole ship, sellect the battleship, do target sellect and sellect the almost destroyed compartment (bleu (no dam), orange (light dam), red (high dam), red/black (almost destroyed))...

i blasted before the 2 wings, the topfin and the fin from a ai hammerhead (just playing with it...) so it's a piranha with better armor and better weap-type... and after that kill it totaly

u can also only shoot the thruster, so he can't speed up anymore... the dragon thruster is easilie shooted away from it, just hit his backfin (thruster is on that part)...

Im back from Cornwall so everybody must now rejoice!!
*there is a silence*
okay...

Back on-topic I got killed when I was experimenting with trade routes in MP. I went straight to Pittsburgh, sold everything (inc shield) because I believed I could dodge well, then left for LD-14 with boron. My lane was disrupted on the way to the California jumpgate and one of the rogues fired a missile...

In the demo, I had finished the first mission and was feeling pretty heroic, so I went around the far side of Manhattan and was jumped by 3 or 4 Rogues.

And in the real game, I was attacked by Outcasts and after I ran away, I had no shield batteries or nanobots, and about 1 hit point left. The trade lane was disrupted and I was killed by 3 Rogues.

Wreck and plunder any good ship? Have to preserve your good standing with the Corsairs.
