only the ones with the wisdom shall over

I believe the last blocks used for storyline. Eg when ******* (censored for spoiler reasons) hates you cos they want ******** then the last block goes red meaning no matter how many of their enemies you kill they cant be turned neutral.

true thats the only time i have noticed it to go red too i never thought of that nor realized that was why it was there mostly pointless though really other then the story (gona stop before i go off topic).......... (no i lied) too bad DA and MS didn't incorporate it into the game a little better for that to occur after the story i mean get in a situation with your rep that you could not ever chage your rep with a faction

Having it where you get it to the point where your rep can never change? lol That's pretty stupid if I might say so, if that were the case you could go around slaughtering their ships while they wave and smile happily at you.

Live Long and Prosper.

eh i dunno if this counts as a spoiler cos it doesn't work but eh..
If you get full green (10 blocks green or more than 9 blocks like 9.1) you can join a faction. But something doesn't make it work eh..

Post Wed Jul 30, 2003 4:19 am

You can never JOIN a fraction. That is why the game is called FREELANCER!!!

have you ever tried to get more then 9 green blocks??? and i didn't mean all green for freindly anyways stupid i ment all read for your current situation (i left it open for some interpitation but i see there are those that are incapable of that) and in the situation that you join a faction would make it impossible for you to be anything other then hostial with that factions enemies

in the skies above manhatten i opened fire on friendly ships... dozens of vessels came at me and i slaughtered them all... i blew up everything i could see until i started to feel guilty and left the system. only to discover that i was still friendly with them... hmm. they love me so much they'll forgive me no matter how many of there buddies i kill. in fact, i can betray them and return only to find theyre still my friends. it doesn't make sense

Post Wed Jul 30, 2003 12:46 pm

Leviathon: It does, you just have to kill LOTS. Like about 20 per whole block I think.

If it wasn't for the inky blackness of the night you wouldn't appreciate the brilliance of the stars...

lutz
i know it makes sense but its just STUPID!!!

Post Sat Aug 02, 2003 3:49 am

xeno, you CAN join a faction, you can join any faction you want.. Just not the way you're supposed to join it... I joined Universal Shipping an dfly around as Universal - Don_Zardeone on my game =P

This game needs a better name btw

Post Sat Aug 02, 2003 6:06 am

Actually you can WORK for them, you cannot JOIN thier ranks.

I was told last night by a Corsair gal that I could fly with them and even be trusted by them, but could NEVER marry a Corsair gal. (Not that I'd really want to, since most seem to look like Herman Munster's wife ...) The reason was they never mix their genes with "weaker men". So If I'm so weak, then why the hell are they paying me lots of creds to do their fighting for them? Why don't they do their own bloody fighting? (I'm swearing to myself in Spanish, but decided not to post such language here.)

lutz and zeno: u are both wrong, technically trent works for the order... the ending seen depicts orillian offering him a job as an order-man. this whole topic is crap, the only enemies you should have are nomad scum, thats really all the order does, stop the nomads.

THAT WAS A MASSIVE SPOILER RENDER!!!

He only works for them temperarily, the game is left open so that the order might come back in the next game.

Session two- Q & A with developers

TLR: Can you actually join factions, such as pirates, bounty hunters, and so forth?
DA: No. Let’s remember the name of this game; Freelancer. You can “work for” factions you are friendly with, and join them in battle etc, but you are still a Freelancer. For example, as a real person, work for many different places, but still remain yourself as you go through life. The game works very much the same way.

SO THERE!
