NEW THINGS

I have been playing that short of games all my life(I start with elite on a spectrum+).What is their common problem? After hours of playing, you end up with millions of credits, the best ship,weapons,etc...
But as this games are concidered to be simulations,it would be logical that new things are being discovered as game time passes.
Imagine the houses to invent new class fighters, new weapons as you level up.Further more how about you will be able to design your own ship figure from predetermined ship design parts.
It is also logical that new bases are constucted also.
I can think of a few other things(mission:destoy a base with a nucrear warhead),but I believe you have already thought it first.....

I agree, I think...

If I had a nickel for every time someone told me that my idea for melting down coins to make a giant robotic parrot was a bad idea, I would have one kicka$$ giant robotic parrot.

How many years was this game overdue to begin with?

Could you really hang on until 2010 so they could code all that into the game? We may have hard drives big enough to cope with all teh data needed by then

Just my $0.02, but it could just be the cardamine talking.

I agree, the rumours @ fl often say 'corsair engineers are currently working on a new ship', 'outcast engineerst have just created a new weapon', but you never get to see anything of it

I remember, back in 1999, I think (or was it 2000? Or 2001?), I saw Freelancer on the release date lists. That feels like a millennia ago... but now, actually playing it... I've got to say... it was worth the wait...

its not a simulation too meny elements of a simulator are missing for it to be a true simulator (on topic) yea there needs to be somethig to spend your money on maybe have a strip bar some place

Privateer had those sort of naughty bars. Remember the big boobed bar maids? If you put the cursor on her boobs, you got told to knock it off.

Deadly: You'd need one hell of a game. Or you'd probably end up with something like the Sims, a milion x-packs.

I wouldn't mind the expansions. They could actually patch them form the net. Charge a much smaller fee (£1 or 2 at a time) and add new partes to your files.

If it wasn't for the inky blackness of the night you wouldn't appreciate the brilliance of the stars...

You shall play EVE Online, where u can build ships, weapons bases, join kill factions, start your own faction... everything. Buy planets and statios. And you can hav your own "Ship Garage". But it costs 15 dollars/month. I have it, but cant afford the playing, and the game costed 350 SEK ( 34 dollars, i think, but im swedish)

Most of those online RPG's look very cool .. but the downside is that a simple student like me can't affort such a think, without giving out too much other stuff

Thanks for the answers guys.
I believe they have to make an x-sion.They can put all those things in just one x-sion,if they want of course.maybe they save ideas for a sequel...
BUT rejoice!ELITE-4 is coming!!!!

x-pantins aren't bad at all that way you can pick and choose what you want to play with out having to deal with the bs of the other

just read the one about all the code it would take to write in everything every one wants a lot of it is already in just a few more lines of code and i would be in like a dynamic economy just write code for the stuff that comes in on all ships to be stock piled on the planet then the population to use the stuff the larger the stock pile the less the good is worth that wouldn't take that much code the value scalar would only be like 5 lines and all the ships to be pilotable well that would only take a bit more too most of the code is in the game for them just to be AI and auto turrent well just to fire on what your locked on too the same just a few lines and that would make it a lot better then it is now this would probably add a meg or 2 megs to the program size now the differnt missions a dynamic goverment system that would take a bit more but it wouldn't take as much as you may think, the thing that takes up all the HD space is graphics
