Other Games Played By Freelancer''s

Well, since everyone else talks about Privateer so much, I thought i might as well ask out of curiousity what other games people who like Freelancer have played and throughly enjoyed.

Myself, I have always been a fan of the entire Command and Conquer series (save Renegade, which was an offshoot more or less), Doom, Wolf3d, Duke3d, Civilization 2: The Test of Time (I did not like any other Civilization game at all), Master of Orion 2 (woo-hoo! This game ROCKS, too bad they couldn't repeat it with the thrid), the Thief series (VERY VERY original and fun, can't wait for number 3!), a bunch of Star Trek games (too many to name specifically, although my fav by far was the ancient one for DOS I can no longer play unfortunately, Star Trek: A Final Unity), The Riddle of Master Lu (another DOS classic)...

And my last one before Freelancer (and longest game experience ever by FAR, I spent probably over 5 months alone finding and doing everything I could until I finally allowed myself to complete the main story and beat the game, most games take me 2-3 days): Morrowind (and its expansions).

Unfortunately I never got the chance to play Privateer, and I'm sure I never will (all those DOS classics are now beyond my ability to play, I don't have the time nor the resources nor the drivers to set up a working DOS partition or anything like that).

I know this list is probably very inconsistent, but generally, I play any game that is fun to play, and don't limit myself to certain classes of games.

Live Long and Prosper.

I'm leadership of ATAC and we are involved with Team Fortress Classic. I have also been active in Starsiege and the Wolfenstein games. Speaking of Starsiege, I'm one who awaits SS2, due out next year sometime.

I have also played Star Trek: Bridgecommander. I'm probably one of a small few who speaks Klingon.

Halo. Nothing beats it. Period.

Okay, so maybe that's a bit of a stretch... but still, the classic "Go from point A to point B and kill anything that gets in your way" formula couldn't have been done better.

I also like the Sonic The Hedgehog series. The Dreamcast rocks!

wing commander me like. all of them. i liked that
you could screw up a mission (sometimes) and
still go on with the story.

and the ships was really something.
how things blew up in the cockpit
during wild dogfights.

Well, Wing Commanders - good old times. I can run only Prophecy now... Priv was my favourite - and still is. Never had a chance to play Priv2. Besides: X-BTF, Star Lancer, all Civs, Imperium Galactica 2, Homeworld + Cataclysm. Last hits: Morrowind and Medieval. Now playing Rise of Nations and ... Freelancer

I play mainly strategy and space games but I do play other games on occasion. Recently ive played Mechwarrior 4 to death and Medieval Totalwar. Im a big fan of X beyond the frontier and the Elite series. X being the best of the two in my opinion. Freelancer is good game with good features but it lacks something those other two games have, eg longevity. I have been working on correcting that.

Im not a fan of the Age of villages series because I like large armies and 200 men doesnt constitute an empire in my opinion. Nor am i fan of the Command and Conquer series because like many modders who worked on stuff for the original games, I saw westwood take the mod ideas, add them to a pack and release it as an expansion to add what we already had been using for several months, just as Total Annihilation got released. A game that broke the RTSG genre wide open in my opinion. We had Dark Reign and Starcraft arrive within a year (before and after TA respectively) and both games where better the the C&C offerings. I've seen nothing new in the C&C series since then, just ideas I enjoy in other games and the usual rehash of the same old same old.

So you could say I like original games the best.

I do hate TV or Movie tie in games, they usually spend more on getting the licence for the game than they do on actually making the make it. Most are pretty poor games with the odd except. EG Dune 1 and 2. Thats Dune 2 not Dune 2000.

I am current waiting for the new Deus Ex 2 but im a little out of touch with the developement progress of that game and have not heard anything in a while.

Deux Ex 1 was fantastic.
