Best cockpit view?

Best cockpit view?

Admittedly, most cockpit views in Freelancer suck. But I played through the SP game again and this time traded my Anubis for a Rheinland Falcon. (Much as I liked the Anubis, it got shot to pieces when I was jump hole hunting in the Omegas. Fought off about half a dozen Red Hessians to get through a hole, only to find more than that waiting on the other side. I was lucky to make it back alive with warnings of "hull breach imminent" and no nanobots or shield batteries left. I lost my best guns and missile launcher too -- along with the wing they were attached to. Try fighting without guns sometime.)

Anyway, I clicked on cockpit view in the Falcon just to see what it was like. It's great! The ship's hull is almost completely out of sight, no wobbly structure that make you feel like you're in a cardboard box etc. My L7 Eliminators crackle like Gandalf's wand, and the incoming laser fire screeches across my shields.

Anyone else found any cockpit views worth flying in?

I always liked the Bretonia Light Fighter's (Cavalier?) cockpit view.

I agree, falcon and eagle has a fine cockpit. But do you mean to say that you usually don't use cockpit view?

Just wondering how that must be.

I like the Eagle cockpit view too.

The Cosair ships have terrible cockpit views, it seems like you're sitting in a cage.

I must say I've never tried the cockpit view, except once when I press the key in error. I was almost sick.

If it wasn't for the inky blackness of the night you wouldn't appreciate the brilliance of the stars...

I never, ever use Cockpitview. It doesn't add anything valuable to the gameplay.
It only irritates me and it doesn't look anything like a cockpit at all.

Yes, hawk/falcon/eagle cockpits are most useful, but I also used to like those of Rhino and Drone - they just look cool.

I've allways found cockpit views good for only one thing: screen captures! Otherwise, when the guns fire, most of the field-of-vision is erased by the gun beams...

Cockpit view in some ships is horrible! It looks more like you are in an aquarium that a space ship. Plus the frame wobbles and when you hit the thrusters seems to collapse on you. But the Falcon cockpit view gives you a clear field of vision. I've stayed with it, though in other ships one minute or so was all I could take.
Haven't tried the Eagle cockpit view though -- although I have a saved game in an Eagle. I'll have to check it out.
