advanced graphics.

Last night whilst looking through perfoptions.ini I noticed one entry called "advanced graphics" which was set to 0. On impulse I changed it to 1 and fired up the game. The improvement was amazing! Has anyone else noticed this/ tried this?

...I tried it and diddnt notice anything different at all. What does it change?

I don't even see a perfoptions.ini in my FL directory. Are you sure you didn't dream it?

All the time that I've been playing the game I have been plagued with the image sort of stuttering when there is a lot of action going on. Changing that setting cured the problem and now no matter how much is going on the image flows smoothly.

perfoptions.ini isn't in the game directory, it is in "my documents\freelancer " which is also where saved game files are kept.

I've posted on changing 'advanced_graphics' in PerfOptions.ini before in this forum, but not very many people seemed interested in the thread!

I too changed it to 1, but didn't notice any improvement in visual quality, so changed it back. I'll have to adjust it to 1 again, and play for a while to see if it sorts out stuttering when there's lots of action going on. Maybe Mission 3 when you have go go rescue research station Willard from attacking Rheinland gunboats would be a good time to change it and see if it improves the framerate !!

My freelancer has been running slowly (<20 fps) on my hitech machine (p4 3ghz, gf 6800 ultra and 2 gb ram) and I had lot of stuttering in battles. I tried to use advanced_graphics = 1 and voila - its much better now! thanks

Puzzling, For a system like yours to have been that slow.. maybe with like 16xAA 48xAF.. but those dont exist.

You can force your graphics drivers to use AA and AF at your command instead of being told to use it by the game.

it just makes it a little better. i gess you have to have a top of the line GPU for this to help.
