Level 38 is not max level?

When I reached level 38, the "Next level requirement" said: Max level
After that I really thought the game was finished, and that I could drive around and take a mission here and there as I pleased. I even bought my self a Humpback and started to smuggle some Cardamine and Artifacts for the fun of it. Suddenly I notised that I couldn´t do any more missions for the Corsairs. They said "come back when you are a more advanced pilot". I also saw that "next level requirement" was no longer Max level, it said Mission instead... hmmm
What mission do I have to do to get to the next level???

Have you just installed the 1.1 patch. If you have, that could be the problem. It screws up missions in SP. You need to re-install the game from CD to resolve it.

What is your level right now?

I belive you loose your pilot levels if you don't take missions in a while.

I am still at level 38 and my personal status says that I have to do a mission before I can advance. Neither the Corsairs or the Outcasts wont let me do a mission before I become a more advance pilot, and I´ve done som missions for some other factions because of that. Nothing changes though, except that the rebels is starting to lose faith in me now.

AAARRGHH... never mind this, I play some more and see what happens...

I'm having the same problem. I only picked up FL a month or so ago, so when I installed it, I checked for updates and found 1.1, which I installed. Once I got to Level 38, it said I was at Max Level. I read this thread and decided to give uninstalling 1.1 and reinstalling from the CD a try. Now I seem to be stuck on Level 38, with my next level stuck at Mission.

Anyone have any idea if there is a way to fix this?

38 is the max level, you can't get any higher. What the 1.1 update has done to some folk is stop you flying missions in some systems. The only cure is to re-install from CD and/or not install the 1.1 update. You still won't be able to get higher than 38, but you should be able to get missions everywhere.

I'm stuck at level 21. what mission do i have to do to advance?

You are given no missions after you are level 18. That "mission required" seems to be a bug. I just took any mission available in a base and it worked, no matter how easy it was. (e.g. a 2,000 credit mission against level 1 Liberty Rogues!)
