equip guns from cargo

Is it possible to equip guns that I have found directly from my cargo hold or do I have to sell them first then buy them back.

Look for the little square on the top left of your weapon's icon, you click on it and it will mount/unmount your weapon.

Well,.. you need to be docked with a station, planet or something like a battleship to be able to mount or unmount equipment, you don't necessarily need to be in the equipment room.
