no, you must be at least on the right side of the line (not on the left side) in order to buy the good stuff, weapons and ships and such.
The same for jobs and all.
The easiest way to do that is to bribe someone. Maybe it's the only way, because they're not allied or hostile to any of the other factions

Yep. So even if you are about.. 5 or 6 blocks to the bad side you can buy it.

It's strange there isn't a rep limit on ships...

I mean, if I walked to a military HQ and asked nicely if I could buy a Hornet, I doubt they'd let me...

It's all profit for them, that's why they allow you to buy ships :p

But selling weapons is profit for them too, but they do have rep.limit. doesn't make sense...

I've yet to understand how I got a not so good rep with the Zoners in the first place. I never bothered them, plus they have no allies. Maybe they don't like my looks?


p.s. What NOT to do: I was at the Zoners' base after buying my Eagle, and the bartender offered to hack my rep and make me friends with the Corsairs. Sounds cool, I though, so I did it. Next thing I went off exploring and discovered a jump hole -- and got promptly blown to bits on the other side before I could even hit the space bar and gain control of the $%#@@!# ship! Had to do it again to see what had happened. Oh ... I'd jumped into the Outcasts' home system after just becoming their deadly enemy. Seven Sabres jumped me all at once as soon as I showed my face. Duh.

Heh. And if you use any other jump hole you'll get the same from Bounty Hunters.

I hate Bounty Hunters.

hehehe i just downloaded hostile universe and bought the starfury, i kill every xeno or bounty hunter i see, and if anyone turns on me theyre dead, unfornutaleny the cops look down on this so they seldom likeit when i blast the hunters, so they often endup dead too, i just wonder where they go cause it seems like if u land they all come back same voice and callsignal, and i thought they was dead...
