No. The engine is dated, and theres only so much they can change. Frankly, I'd rather see them pour the money into a sequel and make it that much better. Ok, that kind of turned into personal opinion, but AFAIK an expansion just doesn't seem to be happening.

I just loved the story, i would like it to be continued, not to end and die after taking out the nomads piramids

I think the question could be answered best with sales figures. My understanding is that Freelancer didn't exactly set records (it might have been the #1 seller for 1 week and then faded pretty fast).

Anyone have any stats?

I don't see much chances. FL is not a game for mases, so it can't earn tons of $. Maybe sequel after next 4 years.
