My only problem with the 8 sleeper ship theory is because they're not shown in the old intro, nor the new one, and they're not mentioned on the website. I havn't seen the quote itself, but given the sheer number of quotes, it seems like a mistake to me. It doesn't even really make sense. Don't forget, the cultures of the current-time colonies are basically all the population remembers, and they try to emulate it, and don't do that great of a job really, since it was so long ago. Or, at least this was part of the fictional background from a long time ago. Theres no reason to believe it still isn't, anyway.

Watch the Intro more often.

"In desperation, the Alliance launched 5 sleeper ships. The hope was, for them to begin again far from the war and strife that had befallen here to start free from the prejudices that had divided us for so long. Each sleeper ship was cristened after its patronation, the Bretonia, the Rheinland, the Hispania, the Kusari, the Liberty."
You have probably realized that there are only Liberty Space, Bretonia Space, Kusari Space, and Rheinland Space...but no Hispania.

Some Freelancers around here that go to Omicron Alpha often probably know the crash site of the Hispania is in the Outcast homeworld, Omicron Alpha. Near by it is a hidden wreck called "Viking".

So in short, there were only 5, not 8, and the Hispania crashed in Omicron Alpha...which is why the Homeworld of Outcasts is in Omicron Alpha and Beta, and the Corsairs is in Omicron Gamma and Theta.

That bartender is just full of it, that's all.
8 sleeper ships... and while you're at it, I have a station in Sigma-17 I'd like to sell you...

5 ships, not 8, launched from one of Jupiter's moons, not Pluto.
Bretonia, Rhineland, Kusari, Liberty, Hispania.

Look, there's a reason why it's called "bar rumor": It might not be true, or the bartender has been sampling too much of his stock.

Post Mon Jun 30, 2003 4:33 pm

well this may be old news but in the Ruiz bar some Outcast told me that they believed the sabotage on the Hispania was caused by another House because of future competition for resources. Which is obviously utter rubbish. So how reliable are the barfly rumours?

Post Mon Jun 30, 2003 5:02 pm

I always get bugged by the "rumours" that are either statements of fact or the speaker's opinion. It is hardly a rumour to say ... e.g. "We get all our supplies from blah blah blah base in the Epsom Salts system." Couldn't Mickeysoft have come up with a better term?
