Why does everyone hate bounty hunters?

lol why?

Post Sun Jun 29, 2003 9:51 am

Because bounty hunters kill people for money. And bounty hunters have often changed sides, being ex-Red Hessians, ex-Mollies, ex-Corsairs etc. Now no one here playing the game would EVER think of changing sides or killing people for money. :-)

I actually became a Bounty Hunter in my most recent game.

A Hammerhead with Skyblasts, hunting down high-ranked Corsairs...

Because they are traitors to their original organizations. And nobody likes a traitor or a snitch. That's why we should kill them all.

Bounty Hunters are hated by everyone because A) they are traitors to their original organizations, which is why the criminals hate them. they are outside the bounds of the law, which is why the police/navy hates them, or at least dislikes them. and C) They can be found in almost every system, so if you are their enemy, you've got nowhere to hide, which is why most players hate them.

The Bounty Hunters are a great nuisance if they are hostile, both because they are virtually everywhere (even in the homeworlds of their arch enemies), and because the loot they drop - if any - is not adequate for the work involved. The Mollies or Red Hessians or Corsairs are different: if they bother you then you swat them and you get compensated handsomely with loot.

The reason is probably that the Bounty Hunter weapons are so extremely cr*ppy that the game designers had to put weapons of much higher weapon class on the Bounty Hunter ships than for the other factions, and a class 9 gun does not drop for you unless you are stinking rich already.

Also, not only do the BH have the potential to be a nuisance, the game makes sure that they realize this potential at least twice during the singleplayer campaign.

Sorry to disappoint you, Recusant, but they already said (almost) everything... Oh, what the hell...
I cannot believe that there are people who DON'T hate the Bounty Hunters! What's wrong with you, people?
I read a rumor once (don't remember where), that a Unioner was captured by the Police, and that in exchange for his freedom he killed his brother, and became a Bounty Hunter afterwards. Now he gets paid for kiling the Unioners... That is soooo noble of him... Bounty Hunter even hate each other because they're competition to one another... They're vultures! Also, they're soooo arrogant abnd full of it... So how do you expect anyone to respect them?! Or like 'em? Or let them live?!
JUST KILL THEM! KILL THEM ALL!!! You're doing the world (especially to me)a favour... A BIG favour.

Careful what you wish... You might just get it.

Amen to that!

Chetnik:
Then I've been doing favors for you almost as long as I have been playing the game. I can never seem to get neutral/friendly with them. Maybe because I like hunting them in the Omicrons for loot? I don't know really... Plus I like being friend of all criminals. They always seem to have the best equipment, especially the Outcasts and Corsairs.
I bet if they allied (which they probably never would) they could conquer one of the major houses. The Corsairs already have that in mind don't they? Conquering parts of a major colony I mean.

Chetnik? I met a real one when I was a little kid. Told me all sorts of interesting stories and how his king helped him out when he was stranded and broke in Paris. Didn't know anybody remembered ...

(If you do.)

Yes, I know what you mean, Barwalker... The Chetniks still exist, and I am an active member... Visit my homepage, it's the Ravna Gora Chetniks' organisation website... It's in Serbian, so if you don't speak the language, there's not much to see... I leave you with our slogan: "With faith in God, for King and Country!"
