Starlancer has been about the best (most fun) space sim I've ever played. If there were still a multiplayer community (and I don't mean the 4 guys who sit on the Zone chatting) I'd still be playing it.

BTW, Anyone know of such a community?

MechWarrior 3 is like that, only like 4 guys just chatting away.

Give me customisable Starlancer style ships with (whisper it . . .)joystick flight controls in the Freelancer universe and I'd be a happy bunny!
I think Starlancer looks better too. Never found a ship I cared for in Freelancer, aesthetically speaking. Mind you I always wanted an Azan when I played Starlancer.
If I could have just selected my choice of guns as well as missiles in Starlancer . . .

Ban REVERSE THRUST! Fly something other than a phoenix for a change!

Edited because I get excited and put FREElancer when I mean STARlancer. Pity my senility, folks.

Is it easier to connect to an MS Zone game than it is to host your own? Starlancer doesn't seem play well with firewalls and NAT routers.

It's impossible to connect to an MSZone game. The program will only let you start if another player is in the room. No other players, hence no connection.

that's retarded... oh well. My friends and I used to get together to play Starlancer online, but it was such a hassle to get everyone connected that we stopped. I'm trying to convince them to pick up Freelancer.
