problems with mass battles

normal scenerio.
friendly group against enemy group.

why is it that all the enemy seem to ignore the rest of your buddies and just fire at you?

this seems very unreal, especially when you hold back and let the battle start first and then watch as all the fighters just go through the battle and target you.

that's one thing i liked about freespace 2. you got effect of being in a real dog fight battle, freelancer blows this notion.

in freespace 2, you had the choice of either being gun-ho and being tactical, in freelancer you don't.

how old is Freespace 2?? my pals think it is also an awsomegame never found out about it... anyhow, i think that is a valid point, the AI just targets you almost immediatly... and when you pals blow up... they do with or without the Enemy shooting them, but if this problem were corrected, then that would be fun (and please better use of tactics).

Yes, you get hammered if you choose to wade right through and be in the heart of things. But if you keep up evasive maneuvers and work towards the outskirts of a battle, you can pick ships off one at a time. It took me many pastings to work this out.

I try not to take solo missions, because you are the only target. If you move far enough away from the wingman, you will not face the full force. In the scripted missions, the above enabled me to survive many of the later missions in a light fighter.

One last bit of advice: use the terrain. Zig zagging in and out of asteroids has bought me the time needed to re-charge and re-load.

The next time someone asks if you're a god, say YES!

the best way i win a battle is to afterburn head on into an oponent while firing at the same time, when the opponeht passes you fire out a mine and watch the fireworks.

I dont mind at all.
If you get blown up, it means you werent very good at dodging....
Though it gets a bit annoying when your doing a cargo run,..

Just my $0.02, but it could just be the cardamine talking.
