Low traffic

I have noticed, that the traffic around huge planets is awfully low compared to the traffic ON the planet. It would be great if the traffic around planets would be raised. Would give me a experience of a more populated space.

What do you think?

Well, imagine yourself in a dogfight near, say Planet New Berlin, with a couple of Hessians...You fire a missile...miss the Hessian you aimed for...The missile finds a new target...lets say a Universal Shipping Transport...Now picture about 75+ NPC's who are all friendly with this guy...
I say that would make thing a lot more fun, won't it

But you're right, compared to the amount of traffic you see on a planet, there aren't many Ships above the planet.
Have you also noticed how you're always the only one on a landingsite? Even when you're docking right after someone else.

Probably they don't let 75+ NPCs attack you because it'd eat any computer. Especially my poor on that slows down when there are around 10 guys fighting.

You have to consider that, even though this is in the far, far future, not everyone may be able to afford a spacecraft. Furthermore, not everyone needs to be in outer space for extended periods of time, or even at all in some occasions. And lastly: yes, it would result in ultra-lag for even the most pwerful machine out there.

No, it would not cause lag. Not if you just raise the traffic 2-300 %.

And, I thought about a thing.

If this would be in a expansion *wishingly*
, then you could be able to set the amount of traffic around planets in your setup.

Fx LOW - MEDIUM - HIGH

As with details and stuff.

That would be cool. then ppl with a slow comp could play without too much lag.

I was playing rebalance 1.4 and I came out of the dock from planet Crete. There was a Rheinland fleet battling it out with the outcasts. There must have been about 50 fighters,5 battleships and 8-10 gunboats blasting away. My computer started getting a little choppy with all of that action going on. Fortunately I was nuetral with all of them and overdrived out of the area. Pretty cool though.

Now that's what I am talking about

Just without all the firing and all. Which probably also where big part of the lag you mention.
