What does everyone think of the titan is it unbeatable??? i think it is but some think it isnt what is your opinion???
That depends on who's sitting in which ship, and the only way to find out for sure is to log onto an MP server and duke it out.
The Titan is a sitting duck, it moves like a heavily sedated snail. I think a good player in a Drake can easily dispatch a noob in a Titan ... but using a Patriot for this purpose would really drive the point home, I guess.

I love the Titan despite it's drawbacks in maneouverability and loadout, but the answer to your question is of course that is NOT unbeatable, none of the top ships are, it completely depends upon the skill of the pilot to fly and outfit his ship properly; a better ship will give you an advantage, but if you're good enough you can take anything out even in a ****e ship.
I fly a well-kitted out Titan and while I don't get killed much, there are many times I come close and have to scarper to save me skin, and don't have to be up against top enemies for this to happen. Some chonk in a Banshee was running rings around me the other night and I don't know what he was firing but it was ripping through my shields like they were paper; I legged it then got my repairs, changed me loadout and went back to kill the b***ard, but he'd gone. In theory I should have stomped him but he totally outflew me.

In single player, nothing beats the Titan for pure firepower, armor, and energy regeneration. The computer AI does not require much manueverability to defeat. Especially with how well the weapons track independantly of movement. In MP, I'd assume being able to fly circles arount the enemy is a big advantage.
Huh?
Huh?
I've found a decent counter to the light fighters that run circles around the heavy fighters. Come to a complete stop and keep turning to face the light fighter. At that point, the light fighter is faced with two options: run away, or get in close and keep circling to keep the VHF from getting a bead on you. One or two hits from a VHF will destroy a light fighter. By having to constantly circle at close range, the light fighter will have a tough time keeping the VHF targeted, as well.
Seeing as how I was the guy in the light fighter, I don't know why I'm spilling the beans on this tactic. Maybe some other erstwhile light fighter pilot can provide a counter-counter tactic. As it stands, I circled a Sabre for a several minutes, slowly wearing away his shield with my weaker guns, only to have him use shield bots when I finally got them down. I was trapped in circling him, since any attempt to disengage would give him the opportunity to lock onto my fleeing ship and really unload. Eventually he managed to get back-to-back hits on me and blow me out of the ether.

I have seen the AI use this tactic as well (I think it was the Kusari Naval Forces protecting Tekagi's Arch). Very dangerous if you are the one sitting in the light fighter, since in Freelancer the keyboard does not offer enough control to fly the ship while you target with the mouse.
The rear turrets of the VHF are also a great danger for light fighters (at least for the really light ones like Patriot/Dagger/Drake), although humans seem to use them less often than the AI does.
And then there's the bug where the game allows you to carry more than 50 missiles. Once the light fighter has used up all 50 flares then it must either evade the missiles or shoot them down; this can easily give the Titan an opportunity to turn the main guns on the light fighter. Same with mines.

well that's exactly right, if you can't outmaneouvre a light quick enemy but you outgun him, then just sit still and wait till he comes in range. Obviously this ain't much good if you've got big ship guns or weapons platforms sponging you, or you're hideously outnumbered!
alternatively you can always run away. however i feel a lot of shame running away from a Piranha or a Patriot or a Startracker, but after I've killed dozens of them the boredom overcomes the shame..

No, the Titan is a weapons platform with engines. It doesn't have enough cargo space to be a freighter.
And it's only a matter of time before someone in a "lesser" ship comes along and teaches all the class 10's a little humility.
Reaper: $200,000,000.
Rockets: $100,000
The look on that pilot's face when you launch a full pod of screamers up his tailpipe: priceless
