If one wants to get picky, one can ask just where the hell all of those hundreds of millions of people came from. How many could they have fit in those sleeper ships? 10,000? 20,000? Maybe not even that many. So over the course of 8 centuries, there must have been some serious shagging going on -- unless the sleeper folks were cloning people as fast as they could.
But what the heck ... it's a game to enjoy. Overall, it's fantastic. I loved the original Elite ... and Privateer and Privateer 2. This is the latest in that serious. (One thing I did NOT like about Privateer were all of those irritating missions involving flying full speed in combat among asteroid belts, where skill often placed second to just plain luck. In Freelancer, I actually can go around the asteroids without getting splattered.)
p.s. Anyone ever play HARDWAR? It was an Elite based game on a moon of Jupiter. I've read it wasn't much of a success, nor was Privateer 2. Apparently, most folks do not like open end games. They want to be told exactly what to do!
