the only bad thing about freelancer is....

i dont want to be the person to pick out the tiny problems, but doesnt it seem that freelancer is a little out of proportion?

planet manhatten isnt even a big as the moon, at least in my eyes

sticks and stones may break my bones but whips and chains excite me!

wow this forums great, all we do is b1t<h and nitpick, can't we just think for one second, holy hell this is a huge game, that took years to develop and perhaps this is how is intended to be, now shut up and mod :>

I wouldn't really be plausible to make things as big as they really are. You'd have to increase the distance between everything then and the suns would be so huge they'd pull you in etc etc. I'm much more dissapointed with the story than the scale, it was too short and felt rushed.

To please Maverick i'd like to say i still enjoyed it immensly. Too much really, it became a major threat to my studying. :p

I will have to agree. Scale does seem a bit out of proportion. But hey...its a GAME!!

Mind you, the only thing i dislike about the game is the fact you have to use "Engine Kill" in order to simulate real physics.

Sorry guys, but this game Suxes compared to what it COULD have been. 4yrs or so for this thing? not worth the money. Same crap, no matter what system, if you want a good open ended game get Vice city and really have fun, this is just another embarassment for Microsoft

i agree with reddog, can't understand why everyone gets excited cos the game can be modded as though that's the best thing ever about a game (plus the modding is quite limited compared to other games!), and ignores all the disappointments with the actual release of the game itself...

evryone is entitled to their opinion but some criticisms i feel are somewhat unfair. ok this game could have been better in many ways but it's more than good enough and it's the first game of this genre since Privateer that I've really enjoyed as much as I enjoyed Privateer, and that includes P2 and Elite. For me, it's "Privateer 3" and i can see myself playing it for months, just like I did with Privateer and Freespace 2. It's certainly worth the 35 quid I paid for it.

If one wants to get picky, one can ask just where the hell all of those hundreds of millions of people came from. How many could they have fit in those sleeper ships? 10,000? 20,000? Maybe not even that many. So over the course of 8 centuries, there must have been some serious shagging going on -- unless the sleeper folks were cloning people as fast as they could.

But what the heck ... it's a game to enjoy. Overall, it's fantastic. I loved the original Elite ... and Privateer and Privateer 2. This is the latest in that serious. (One thing I did NOT like about Privateer were all of those irritating missions involving flying full speed in combat among asteroid belts, where skill often placed second to just plain luck. In Freelancer, I actually can go around the asteroids without getting splattered.)

p.s. Anyone ever play HARDWAR? It was an Elite based game on a moon of Jupiter. I've read it wasn't much of a success, nor was Privateer 2. Apparently, most folks do not like open end games. They want to be told exactly what to do!

vice city owns.. best game out right now

Open ended games are the BEST!!! I also like the reputation system in FL, makes the game interesting

Black and White > Vice City when BW2 and FABLE come out alot of games are gonna be BLOWN away.

Of course the settlers cloned everything with two chromozones. That's why you keep running into the same faces in the bars.

Apparently Juni's one-of-a-kind though. With all the lookalikes, that's kind of depressing.

honestly i dont think there is anything wrong with freelancer they could of made it a bit longer and made it that you could have more than one ship!!!
