Best Combos

What do you think the best combos of Ship, weapons, shields, Etc?

Post Thu Jun 19, 2003 11:51 pm

I would definitely combine all three of them. A ship is always a good idea, and shields are useful too. Often, I carry weapons as well.

lol. Nice one, circumcisor (how'd you get that name, anyway?)

I'd say an eagle, with c10 equipment is as good as you can get.

It's an old name I used to use in Diablo 2 realms. Other players would try to attack me because I was on the ladder, but they mostly ended up having bits chopped off.

all i could think of was KFC Combos, £9-99 Family ones with a bottle of coke.

..you think you're done with the past; but the past isn't done with you..

Wouldn't it have been better to post this topic in the Spoiler Forum? Specific/detailed answers would be spoilers and so we can't post them here ...

Here's my vote for the best fighters that are not maximum class VHF:

Patriot with Graviton shield, Xeno guns and cheap homing mines

With this ship you can go anywhere in the civilized systems and the borderworlds between them and fly bar missions up to about difficulty 25 without trouble. The only thing it has to fear there is swarms (>= 6) of class 6 light fighters like the Hawk if they have decent weapons, but heavier ships (Dragon, Stiletto ...) are no trouble because they not manoeuverable enough to hit you except by accident and smaller ships don't have enough firepower to be a threat. With really powerful mines you can venture further out and tangle with bigger fish (Falcon, Hammerhead etc.) in small numbers, just for kicks ... but be prepared to die if you fumble or your luck runs out.

Drake with Graviton shield, Xeno guns and cheap homing mines

With this ship you own all of Sirius except for the home systems of the Corsairs and the Outcasts where the enemies are too tough to take on more than two at a time without trouble (I mean NPC ships, of course ). Best ship for making money fast as a fighter, but limited cargo capacity (loot!). You can even fly it through most of the SP campaign if you plan accordingly; the guns must be looted anyway so you don't have to wait until you have high enough level to be allowed to buy high-class weapons. This is something I plan to do real soon ... The last couple of times I played the campaign with very light ships like Dagger and Patriot (Starflier not finished yet) and consequently it was quite difficult at times. With the Drake it will be the opposite because it is more powerful than the game designers planned for.

I love that Drake for SP, you can experiment with different weapon loadouts on it. Some Angelitos would work nicely on the Drake and the Vultures will give you the most punch for it's powerplant capabilities. Two LV5's and two LV6 Vultures makes it a vicious little pit bull.

I agree that the Vultures are the most energy-efficient weapon in the whole game but the Tarantulas are quite efficient too, and they have more punch than the Vultures, better targetting characteristics (projectile speed, firing rate) and the same range. A Drake with Tarantulas does more damage than an Anubis with mediocre guns ... And the powerplant has enough capacity to destroy any enemy except for a class 10 ship before it runs dry. The only ships that are even more fun to fly are maxed-out Falcons and Eagles, but they are boring outside the Corsair/Outcast home worlds because they are too powerful.

i think that if you have a all out class 10 shield you should be fine, not to mention nomad weapons nothing should stand in your way

try 4 nomad guns and 2 class 8 missle launchgers(cheap yet still destructive!). My loadout contains two lancer launchers, They can destroy any lvl 1 apponents in 1 barage!
