Liberty is useless!

Hey everyone, this is one of my first posts on the forum. I've had FL since it's been released, and I have completed the SP game and am now exploring around the universe. However (sadly), I find little to no motivation to return to Liberty. I play my character as a fighter, not a trader, so there is no use returning to the Liberty system (or even Bretonia, for that matter) because of the extreme obselete equipment, ships, and missions they have there. I know that DA made an idea to make the systems "stepping stones," with one system upgrading in tech and difficulty from the next, but I think it really ruins the game after you get done the campaign.

Are there any mods out there to "update" the Liberty and even Bretonia systems to be on par with the rest of the universe? The Defender is still one of my favorite ships - but of course I can't fly it if I intend on visiting the Border Worlds.

I think there were a couple of mods that changed the the different houses' HF ships into VHF. Check the downloads page.

That's cool, but what about upping the mission difficulty/reward? I'd like to be given a reason to stay around in Liberty, but no one can make a profit there...

killing police is the only thing i can think of that is entertaining and the other thing is that it is a good place to move through because of its central location

Courage isn't the ability to fly head on into the jaws of death with an arrogant smile. Its the ability to run away from a couple of Xenos and face the laughter.

I think that there were mods that changed the mission difficulties, as well. I can't think of it from the top of my head; try searching around.

there are two uses for the Liberty systems after SP is over- Cardamine and Luxury foods. Diamonds if you're too lazy to go all the way to Kusari.

Reaper: $200,000,000.
Rockets: $100,000

Yeah, I'd love a mod that would base the missions difficulty on your level whereever you are in Sirius. That would be cool!

Always a good reason to go to Manhattan. Can waste hours literally just by laying siege to planet Manhattan. I know I have and all the other players around me are glad as they scoop up all the cargo the various transports drop as I kill them.

I've gotta agree. I understand that in the campaigns the liberty and britonia systems serve a purpose, but after their ships are just pathetic. I would much rather have seena more rounded and realistic game.

What I really want to see is a mod that doesn't make uber ships but rounds out what is already there. For example, I like the strong battleships and differant handleing of ships in the rebalance mod, but there is too much changed, there are huge weapons and most ships can mount them.

I'm gonna give modding a shot somtime, when I do this'll be the first thing I go for.

For SP it's fine to have the early systems be wimpy. But in a multiplayer game, everything really needs to be better balanced. That's why I played in MP about three times before setting it aside and just doing SP and exploration. :/

Well, I've tried looking thru the mod database but I couldn't find one. Is there some sort of search technique for all the mods?

makes ya wonder why the other systems don't bitch-slap liberty senseless.

the only thing liberty is good for is selling cardamine and artefacts on manhattan

the game is brutal in that respect - it was pre-hyped to be all about freedom to do what you want but really its a very on-rails type of experience when you play it, after the start of the game you can't jump systems cause either you' re not allowed or all the pirates etc in the other systems blow hell out of you when you emerge from the jump gates and then once you progress a bit, like you said, you've no reason to go back.... And the BAr missions are SOOO damn pathetically boring, they don't offer much to do either.... just hope we can find a way to edit them properly soon?

Yes, Liberty is pathetic, strange that Bretonia, Kusari or Rheinland hasn't already claimed their systems for themselves. Their military technology is strangely bad too, as I read a rumor once that claimed that the Liberty military budget is planned as if they are at war with two other houses at once.
