Well hey, I've got some questions for you I just posted this on the "rebalance mod is great" thread.

"I'm thinking about picking up the rebalance mod for a few reasons. I hear it fixes a lot of stuff like cap ship damage and lets you upgrade your fighter's speed. I have a few questions about it though.

Do the new ships overwrite old ships, and if so, or even if not, is it possible to install the mod without the new ships? Also, do NPCs get the new ships as well?

Does the mod cause problems with saved games and such, would I have to restart the SP? Also, does it cause problems with MP?

Do ships go at differant speeds now even without engine upgrades?"

All I'm really looking for is a mod that'll fix up some stuff like damage and make the game more realistic (if you can call a space shooter realistic , not somthin that's gonna make uber spacelanes and ships just cause that's what the players want. Thanks for any help you can give me.

------------ The ships do NOT over write existing ones, they apperar in the shopsjust like the others. (sometimes they take the place of another ship, but you can buy that other ship at another base) NPC-s DO get new ships. And they KNOW how to use them.-----------------

Does the mod cause problems with saved games and such, would I have to restart the SP? Also, does it cause problems with MP?

-----------------Yes, restarting the single player campaign is HIGHLY recommended. First, there is a lot of old savegame related bugs, second, it's like playing a whooole different game.------------------------

Do ships go at differant speeds now even without engine upgrades?"

---------Yes. And they have UNIQUE handling characteristics as well. It will actually MATTER what ship you have in your crosshairs, because you will need to develop new strategies to combat them.--------------

Hey great, thanks a lot. I think I'll pick it up sometime... though I'll finish the SP i'm on first.

Post Sun Jun 01, 2003 11:29 am

hi, there are so many questions, that I can not write them all....
I finished SP (without this MOD) two times, but with this MOD, when I reply SP again, I stuck in 3 mission, when you scan cargo of transport and looking for the man.... The man then, when we attack him, is almost impossible to hit, he changes dirrection about 3 times a second, I have no missiles, and basic ship witch level 2 weapons, and when I hit him, his shields recharge so quick.......
Am I really stupid ?!?!?

then my Q. is - can I change some *.ini file and refuse recharge enemy´s shields??? (as it works without this MOD) if them change directions in dog fights 3 times in second, I am really not able hit them with lasers..... :-((
thanx mates

PLEASE do not give up. That bastard took me about 10 minutes too, but he IS killable. Ya might wanna re-load a previous save and arm yourself with 2 justice mk2, and a drail. And missiles. Hit him with rockets every time you trash his shields.

Can you buy a gunboat or a battleship in the game with the mod?
And if i'm playing in level 1, so the ships prices will be low than level 3 or 2?
Thesea re my questions for now...

There are some seriously powerful craft available for purchase. Even standard craft are now more powerful. I warn you tho... that goes both ways.

That's a good question. I'd love to see a list of all additions this mod offers put into one readme.doc, too. As it stands, the easiest way to see the scope of this mod is to dig through the News Archives here at Lancers Reactor. Throughout April and May, you'll see news blurbs that list out what each mod update offers in changes and fixes. It also tells you neat things, like where you buy any of the ships that have been added or moved.

HatTrick, I just answered some of your questions in the other thread.

I suggest that anyone who has questions check out the "Freelancer Editing: Mod Announcement Forum." You'll find a thread dedicated to the Rebalance mod there. You'll hopefully find answers to many of your questions there, as well as frequent feedback from the Mod Creator, Michael Dan. Good luck.

Don't forget, you can also change the difficulty with included .bat files. If a particular mission is too hard now (escape from Manhattan comes to mind), switch to lvl. 1 difficulty temporarily, and ratchet it up again afterwards. Better loot comes with increased difficulty, you can only loot weapons and cargo at lvl.1, but you can loot shields/engines/scanners at lvl. 2.
