I know that....

I have just got the game thsi morning BUT...

Looking at a Clans website, what is it like playing Freelancer Online?

Also how do you join a clan?

FL online (MP) is good... If you have a good connection.
The Clans mostly use the "Don't call us, we'll call you" routine...
Prove yourself to be good enough, and someone will ask you to join a clan. Or, you could do the asking, but then you (probably) have to take one of their tests.
Option C is that you start your own clan.
