Freelancer FPS (mode).

I just had a crazy idea. Why dont there be (nice english huh?) a FPS Mode or GAme for freelancer? I would like your opinion. Cause i mean think about it. Your after a guy for a bounty, he lands on some odd planet. You land there too. It ends up at a alley near the ship loading area with you putting lead into his head. Nice image huh?

Yep, that is a crazy idea. When you want to play FPS, play FPS. There's plenty of FPS around. Then when you've had enough FPS you can come back to FL.

[Devils advocate whispers in marlowes ear

On the other hand, yes, why not have an element of FPS in FL. And maybe some RTS too. And while you're at it, why stop there. Add some puzzle elements, and maybe a platform section as well. And a big jigsaw to finish it all off.

Have you tried playing noughts and crosses with a supply depot yet, imbecile?

@marlowe: His idea was that they should make a FPS "on foot" -- you know Trent holding a plasma rifle shooting those God damn Bounty Hunters... "imbecile"...
@Heretic: Not a bad idea -- somewhat similar to the C&C Renegade idea, except this would set a pressedan... Making a FPS game based on a FPS game, and calling it "another aspect".

I know what a FPS is ("imbecile", there are (IMHO) more than enough of them around.

I have no objections to DA expanding the franchise to include a FPS, or even a hybrid, but i don't think FL needs it. I'd go as far as saying it would spoil it.
If FL had been released as a hybrid i wouldn't have bought it. If it had been a FPS i probably wouldn't have read any further than 'FPS' in the previews.

Believe it or not, some of us were bored with FPS by the time we'd finished Unreal. run, shoot, dodge, shoot, get bigger weapon, repeat
Sound familiar? Hats off to Thief and Hitman (and sequels) for trying to be different, but in the end it was all just
sneak, shoot, sneak, use (insert silent weapon name here), get gadget, sneak, use gadget, sneak, shoot again, repeat

Hey everyone, wouldn't it be great if FL was everything you ever wanted in a game?
No, it wouldn't, it would be the death of the games industry.

It's just an opinion. Feel free to shoot me...

lol this is already a game thast going to be released soon i will put up link

Post Wed May 28, 2003 3:59 pm

OOh and why not have a race portion where you have to fly through loops?

Post Wed May 28, 2003 4:07 pm

Bad idea. I don't want to have Rambo in FL. I can accept that Trent is a good pilot. Not more than that. Sounds like a really bad B-movie where the hero can do anything from flying like an ace, fights like Bruce Lee and also a nuclear physicist.

...i didnt say fl needed it i said WOULDNT IT BE COOl

I mean seriously. Have a hybrid game would be good. then you wouldnt have to spend another 50 dollars on another game if u want fps. Hell i actually like the RTS in there too. an RTS/FPS/Space SIm would be a great game. 3 gaems in one basiclly. I dont know what you guys are all bitchy about.

Historically speaking, games that strive t ocross boundaries tend to fall flat on their faces. Here is an example:

HALO for the X-BOX. (or the bill gates altar as I refer to it) My friends and I used to have buggy driving races in multiplayer. Not because it was easy to drive, but because it was funny trying to go in a straight line.

I am not saying that you are an idiot for suggesting it, because you are not. It is just that I would find it too damned annoying to get "jumped" by baddies on a station when I am trying to buy nanobots and batts.

BTW... if you want a really good (really really good) FPS with a spaceship vibe, look into the system shock series.

So you basicly wants a humongues universe, with all it random encounters and missions AND you want a FPS element, where you can visit every single planet and battleship? You have to add NPC's on the planets... as wel as new missions. You even have to add whole cities.

You still want that element in it?
