Yet another roll rant...

Well, I think it is well established after reading these formus that we cannot roll our ships. I think it is also established, though not so well, that this is a bad thing, but we can deal with it.

Well, there is something about it I cannot deal with. The AI can roll. On top of that they do it CONSTANTLY. Then, just to add a bit of acid to the arlready salted wound, it throws off the targeting lead quite effectivly, making the lead quite useless if the AI is rolling.

This is not coming from a postition of "I cant hit my target and i'm mad" this is coming from a position of pure game design.

Removing a users abillity to perform a neccisary, and usefull task or manuever just for the point of increasing difficulty is deplorable, and I hope DA takes steps to correct the error.

This little hitch is the only thing that keeps this game from the status of "Perfection" in my mind. Well, once the rebalance mod is applied to it anyway

Give us roll, or take it away from the AI. Thank you.

I agree, I hate it when the AI rolls... the basterds are mocking my when they do.

If I had a nickel for every time someone told me that my idea for melting down coins to make a giant robotic parrot was a bad idea, I would have one kicka$$ giant robotic parrot.

Rolling doesn't throw off the aim of the enemy since the axis is within the ship. Corkscrewing does but you don't have to roll to do this.

The only time I missed the ability to roll was while attacking the Nomad Lair and the Barrier (for re-orienting the ship), and the spacebar worked well enough for this.

still, I think everyone would be alot happier if we would be able to roll.

And alot easier too, think about the wastelands. I always run into crap in there. If I was able to roll, I wouldn't have tha problem.

I guess I have come up with the "its a fake roll" of sorts as I like to use the space bar a lot to "right" my ship from time to time during a fight.

Done at the right time and quickly your ship will roll over and using the on again off again thruster move you actually do a roll of sorts. Yes it would still be easier if it was the real deal but I don't think I have missed it as much as some type of real time AI.

Although it is funny to see them run into their own mines, fly into planets, collide with each other during normal flight and combat, or the hundreds of other entertaining things they do. It would still be good to have them use shield batts, call for back up and know when not to mess with a superior ship.

But I digress the original post still stands it is a bummer they didn't include this feature of a true roll over, but perhaps a mod or patch will be forthcoming to fix it.

Just some thoughts from the edge of space!
