Hell, there's a *very* simple solution to this. Two actually.

No one's forcing you to read it, and likewise no one's forcing you to post in it. Even if the big "FAVOURITE WEAPONS POLL!" topic title wasn't clear enough for you to avoid the subject matter, you don't need to post in that forum - let alone read the content - to get back out of it again.

Same as above, only in reverse. And fair enough; why should a topic I make require you to like it? It doesn't, and vice versa. So skip it if you don't, and post in it if you do.
There may be a lot of polls, but there are just as many duplicate topics of othet content: modding, tutorials, why I hate, why I love, why can't you, etc, etc. To say multiple poll topics are 'too much' is hypocrisy in action. The pot calling the kettle black, as it were.
So, to reiterate: Don't like it, don't read it.
It's called common sense.
